    Remote throttle control linkage

I am so lucky. The linkage you see in the pic is of a 1963 Johnson 18hp. I (broke) the plastic tip off when placing it on the linkage @ the motor. Question: do I have to replace the (whole) cable? it seems like I do however its a new problem for me. I am glad it did not happen out on the lake...

    18 hp Johnson carb rebuild

Thanks for you fast responce. I have indeed tore down the carb all the way and have resuplied the carb with Johnson outboard carb re-build kit. My mistake looks like I did not get all the (packing) out prior to boiling the carb.. I have since then taken a (wire) brush and removed the remainder...

Hi all, I am down to rebuilding (w/kit) the carb.. In the picture I am pointing to one of the orfices. I took out all the packing and boiled in asetone(sp), and it seems you can still see some (resudue) down at the bottom where the threads stop. I have used everthing but a (jackhammer) with no...

I have (started) up after 7 to 12 yrs of shed time this engine. I have (so far) relubed the (lower end), New (water pump) & seals, New coils. Points looked good and took a chance on the condensers. I fired up the engine and she responded (great) and there was noticable (clods) of dirts, dirt...

    Points adjustment

I am having trouble (adjusting) the points on a 63' 18 hp Johnson. The "seloc" manual tells of tightening down (once the points are where you want them) "base" screw, It seems this "adjusting screw functions so it (moves the points), and as I'm seeing it, the screw is not designed to tighten...

    Flywheel installation 63 18hp johnson

    Outboard motor condensers

I called my marine shop and they sell a kit (consisting of) "points and condeners". Hey I'm not against putting in new points, but not when the kit costs $49 $$, & when I was just after the condensers. I have spent so much $$'s I don't think any fish I catch will ever be (really) free. Thanks...
