    How fast should I go

I have a 56 Alumacraft Open C(15 footer), and A '62 Evinrude 28hp Speeditwin. Figuring in my weight and all my gear is around 400lbs. How fast can I realistically expect it to go?

    holding flywheel

This may seem old hat to some of you but I am reassembling a 62 evinrude and it states that the flywheel is supposed to be torqued to 100-105lbs. How in the world am I supposed to stop the flywheel from spinning while applying that much pressure? I have been trying but with no success. I am...

How do a reinstall my lower crankcase seal

I bought a 62 evinrude speeditwin 28hp motor that I had to dissemble because the retainer clip that holds the spring up to the lower crankcase seal was missing. This =caused the spring to drop down. I am not sure exactly how it goes back together. I know what the order of the parts are but I...

how do i get my speedtwin apart

Good deal. I finally got the powerhead off. It took a little persuasion from a wood block and a 20oz ball peen hammer but it finally came loose. Now the question is does anybody make a kit for replacing the lower crank seal for this motor? I know I can buy all the parts separately, but I would...

    Alumacraft Open C capacity

I have checked for a tag but have not found one. I would assume that sometime in the last 50 odd years it has been removed.

    Alumacraft Open C capacity

What is the weight capacity for my '56 Open C? I am planning on decking it, putting in batteries and trolling motors, fat guys, coolers, huge tackle bag and a bunch of other stuff that we all know we could never catch any fish without, and I don't want to overload the boat.

how do i get my speedtwin apart

I am getting there. I have been soaking everything in aero kroil everyday for about a week and stuff is starting to break loose now. I did get the 2 nuts you mentioned. For reassembly I am considering using Stainless steel fasteners and some loctite(probably blue). Is there anything wrong with...

how do i get my speedtwin apart

I have taken the lower unit off and I am now trying to take the center section between the lower unit and powerhead off, but with no luck. I have been soaking it in aero kroil(penetrating lube) for about two days and it seems to be helping a little but they bolts are really stuck in there. Like...

how do i get my speedtwin apart

I recently purchased a 28hp 1962 evinrude speedtwin and I figured that I should change the water pump impeller and spark plugs. When I took it apart i noticed the lower crank seals were bad. I am trying to get the powerhead off of the rest of the engine but with no luck. I have broke almost...

johnson evinrude fittinging leaking at engine

I just bought a '62 evinrude speedtwin 28hp and the fuel fitting that mates up to the engine leaks pretty good. Is the fix as simple as buying a new fitting or just bending the little metal clip on the fitting? Should there be an O-ring on the female end to create a seal?
