    Better connectors??

I don't have a lot of removable electrical/electronic stuff on my boats. GPS, sounder, spotlight. The weak spot is always the "cigarette lighter" power connectors. They just aren't reliable--poor retention, lack of wiping action on the center contact, etc. I would like to ban these things...

Old Smoker Craft offered as a 1979 14 footer.

Thanks. I didn't see that and the seller said there was no data plate. Any comments about these boats in general?

Old Smoker Craft offered as a 1979 14 footer.

Can anyone offer any insight on this boat? Age? Desirability. Told there is no data plate on it...

    1971 Crestliner Dane

So mine is apparently a 1972,the first year of the model. It seems a sturdy boat. Specific question: It has sprayed-in foam under the gunwales and in other places. This foam seems rather brown and brittle. Can it be counted on to do it's job? I think there is supposed to be foam under the...

    1971 Crestliner Dane

I've just become the owner of one of these. Boat, trailer, motor $200. Seems like a pretty solid hull to me. Anybody familiar with these and able to give pointers about what problems to look for?

    Thoughts on Lund XRV 4.6?

I have a line on one of these at a good price, fresh water boat. This is not a large boat (15"2") but is relatively heavy at 755 lbs. From the pics it looks to have substantial deadrise. Will my 40 hp Johnson move it along or would I want something bigger? Any general thoughts on these...

16 ft Bluefin a good bet?

Hey all. I may be taking a look a a boat said to be a 1985 Bluefin 16 footer. The pic is poor but it has a walk through windshield and some grab rails on the bow. Can anybody give me any general advice on these hulls and whether they are good bets? (This would have been strictly a fresh...

What's the best sealant for riveted seams?

Looking for something to apply externally to seams where there seems to be a gap between the sheets. What seems to work out best for this? Thanks.

Help ID this beat up tin boat?

Well, the boat is looking better with some layers of paint coming off, but I would be surprised if it didn't have some leaks. Now, as background, in theory I'm an A & P, and though I never really worked at the trade, I do know how to deal with rivets and aluminum. But, I no longer have the...

Help ID this beat up tin boat?

Thanks. Consensus here and elsewhere seems to be "Sears," possibly including Elgin and/or Sea Nymph. The wt and dimensions correspond pretty well to Sears "semi-vee" boats from the 50s, 60s, 70s. Noticeable is the apparent absence of a drain plug in original form and that the spray rails begin...

Help ID this beat up tin boat?

This boat measures about 11' 7". Transom wood all gone but I think I can see where it goes. No data plate that I can find. Kind of the image of a beat up tin boat. Can anyone, from the pics, tell me who likely made this boat, and approximately when and where a data plate might be? Thanks for...
