Got a chance to pick up a 1989 mercury 9.9 2 stroke motor for my 1436 flat bottom..runs great looks New super clean..whats yalls opion of these?any special things i need to check?

I Live in tennessee and bought a 1436 flat bottom Jon boat,i plan on doing alotta night time catfishing...ive searched on required lights on the boat..but cant seem to make heads nor tails of it..any help id be greatful for....

Think this weekends gonna be the last weekend Out for me to....gonna give in and break my promise to myself and do some paint,Trailer changes etc.....gonna research what lights need to be on the boat...plan on alotta catfishin at night....

Did you paint it yourself?i started Out with my boat and Trailer and promised myself i wasnt gonna paint em..i tend to get carried away.....but think i am gonna take the plung and paint both...maybe carpet the boat.....

Its a 1436,i took it the day after i got it and put it in the water just to check for leaks,it stayed powder dry...got a great deal on it...still has factory paint,no holes drilled in it,perfect condition...

To be honest not real sure,picked up a Trailer and trolling motor,after the holidays gonna get a gas motor around 10 hp,other than that not sure what else im gonna do....

Might try Out glen springs lake this weekend,do i have to have a life jacket?also is their bait Shop open?

Summer/graham area....ive fished last few weekends Out at my aunts in eads..she has a private lake....might hit up glen springs saturday...try Out my New catfish rig and maybe some crappie...cant wait till Spring do some juggin at night....thats my thing
