Can anyone give me some advice on building hatches? I have looked at Cabelas and some other retailers, but their products are expensive and do not come in the sizes I am looking for. I began looking into building custom hatches out of aluminuim, or plywood. Looking for some economical ideas...

I looked at several sources and went with Cabelas. I have just ordered it so I cannot comment on the quality yet. I went with their standard vinyl for the floor and deluxe carpet for the hatches. Price was good, and the products got good reviews. We will see??

I am working on the same project for my v-hull. After a lot of research I am using 1" aluminium L framing. It is expensive, but much lighter. Check out some of the info here on this web site about it. Good luck.
