What year is my motor, and spark plugs question

I can add that the "CR" part denotes "Canada Derated - Rope Start". I'd look into what they mean by 'derated', might be an easy performance gain to be had there. Or maybe it's really a 25 but with a 20 on the cover!

Trouble finding a service manual for two-stroke Mariner 25

https://boatinfo.no/lib/mercury/manuals/mercury_1990-2000.html#/0 This website is SLOW but that would be your manual. You can't download it all but it looks like you can print the pages you need. Best of luck with it

    12' Deep v

I sure would love to hear that story too, as a 1960's OMC 18 is my dream engine at this time. I think the majority of semi-v 12 footers are rated around 10hp so a 9.9 would be a very safe choice. I would guess that a deep v might even handle a 15 or 18 since I would think greater...

Motor isn't running well, can someone help?

Wow, at least that will be rather inexpensive to fix. It really is a good idea to take a minute and just LOOK at everything, including under the cover, whether it's when finished with work or when out on the water and she's not quite right. You would not believe how many times I have...

    Lund Front Deck Support Help

Yes, perhaps there is. If you flatten a convex piece, it becomes wider. Since you won't want to widen the hull, you would have to narrow the newly flattened deck down to the size of the hull. Just mashing it down flat will leave it buckled somewhere or bend the hull outward no matter how hard...

    Hand Launching and recovery questions

Welcome aboard! Sounds like there's no winch at the front of your trailer. That would be the first thing you'll need, they start at less than $30 and a cheap one will do fine for a tin. If you can make flat bunks go for it, spreading out the load on soft aluminum is always a good thing. 8)

'81 Mariner 25hp WOT RPM Range

Well I just answered my own question by accident while glancing at a pdf file titled "Ultimate Outboard Model Year Identification Guide". If Mariners come from Japan while Mercs come from the USA and Europe then they are clearly not the same, not even almost the same. Someone once told me they...

    water pump shaft - rework

I'm really surprised that the shaft was machined the same at both ends! That was a very cool idea too =D>

'81 Mariner 25hp WOT RPM Range

Now that's a good question! It was a long, long time ago in a land far, far away... Honestly, I can't even think of the name of that filesharing app anymore! BTW, Mercurys and Mariners are the same, right? Kind of like Evinrudes and Johnsons? The info is out of a Merc manual.

    Smaller Battery Option?

Some chargers do and some don't, only a multimeter can tell you what yours does. If you have a Harbor Freight store nearby a meter can be had for 6 bucks, I have this one and its worked fine for 4 years now :D

    Pyle stereo and stereo installation

Thank you for that color coding, Wallijig! I have a Pioneer with a birdsnest hanging from the back of it that I was hoping to put in my van someday. That day just got much closer :D

    Best plug for a 1975 evinrude 15

Original plug is a Champion LJ7. That's been replaced by UL81C these days. But the best plug for YOU might be one heat range hotter if you troll all day or one colder if you run mostly wide open. The factory uses the best "all around" choice.
