I am on a macbook laptab using safari internet. Pictures do not show up and both home and work.

I cannot see any pictures that are posted on the forum. Most pics show up as a small box with a little red 'x'. Does anyone know if there is a setting that has to be adjusted to look at pics? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
