If you have to get out of the throttle quick the backwash is less likely to come over the transom of a 20 inch transom than a 15. In short, as stated above it gives you more freeboard which makes you less likely to take in water n be swamped. Unless you run small lakes or rivers exclusively...
Could always leave it at 20 inches and take it to a welder and have them make it into a prop tunnel by removing 5 inches from the bottom of the boat. Just a thought, I have one and love it.
I think the standing recommendation is to line up the front grate pin hole with exactly even with the bottom of the boat. In your pic it looks like it might be a tad low but it's hard to say.
Sorry to hear that man!
You sound way more calm than I would be! Since you were towing it I'd bet your car insurance would cover it & they'd likely go after the dealer because it was their fault so it prolly wouldn't effect ur policy... In case your thinking about filling a claim it might be...
Sweet man! That's a barge! I like that set up - can haul a lot of decoys when they're open like that.
Btw I hear the place to be for catfish, both flatheads and channels is down around Fallmouth and Marrietta. Might want to check those areas out if you're into catfish.
You & duckfish are spot on.
I feel the same way it's a crying shame what's happened to the river. I grew up 2 blocks from the river in New Cumberland and remember 50+ fish days when I was 13-14 years old! I really only fish the spawn before the season closes & maybe a time or 2 in June after...
That sounds like & ideal combo should be more than enough power for sure! I'm a long time tiller guy myself on the same river I got my first 6hp when I was 16, then went to a 15hp then a 30hp (all prop driven & now have a 40/30 tiller jet) lol I'm 44 now. Good luck with your new boat!
Assuming you're going to run the Susquehannain and you wanna run fast and shallow in the summer or early duck or goose seasons here's my advice - if you have the $$ - get a rockproof and be done with it lol. If had the cash I would've. Lol
To answer your question if it was mine I'd go forward...
