    Johnson/Evinrude Part Numbers

I recently got an OMC parts catalog for my 81 70hp Johnson. When I go to order parts from various vendors, however, it seems that none of the part numbers match what is in my catalog. Does anyone know if OMC changed their part numbers at some point in the past? If they did, is their some sort...

    Frozen steering tube

\ Thanks, but I saw that video. I thought I was going to die watching that fellow trying to take that nut off with that cheap crescent wrench there in the beginning :LOL2: That had more to do with the cable itself. It wasn't frozen inside the steering/tilt tube like mine is.

    Frozen steering tube

I've done everything mentioned except applying heat. The cable itself is a pile of rust too. No need to try and save it. I just cut it off to get it out of the way as I don't need it anyway. The part inside of the steering tube/tilt tube is frozen rock solid with rust. I've sprayed it good...

    Frozen steering tube

Yeah I know I'm going to have to replace the cable, but I'm trying to find out how to remove the steering cable from the steering tube on the motor. The cable is frozen on the inside of the steering tube and won't come out.

    Frozen steering tube

Hey guys, I've got an '81 Johnson 70 hp that has set up for a few years and the steering cable is frozen solid inside the steering tube. I've saturated it with PB Blaster over a several day period, but still can't get it to budge. Just wondering if some of you guys might be able to offer some...

    Transom Hole Filling

A marine mechanic and I went over it pretty good. There was another motor mounted on there and those holes you see had a bolt through them and were sealed up nicely. The other holes were silicone real good. I plan to knock all that out and use that marinetex to seal them and then sand it down...

    Transom Hole Filling

Ok, here are a few pictures as requested. She's isn't very pretty, all faded, carpet needs replacing transom needs all those holes filled, but it's solid. She could stand a good refreshing overall, but she floats. I'm in the process of parking a Johnson 70 hp on the back.

    Transom Hole Filling

I see the marinetex comes in a white or gray mix. Which one would be best to use?

    Transom Hole Filling

I guess I could take some tomorrow. It's just a half inch hole that goes through the sheet metal and through the wood transom.

    Transom Hole Filling

Hey folks, I've got a mid 80's Landau 1650 boat that looks to have had more than one motor on it with different mounting holes at some time. There are about four extra holes, about 3/8 to 1/2 inch, that I need to fill. I've been reading where some suggest using some stuff called Marine Tex...

    Compatible Year Models

I know that with cars, there are certain years grouped together in which most parts are interchangeable. I've got a 1981 Johnson 70 and was wondering if there might be other year models in which the parts would fit my 81? Thanks

    Trim and Tilt

My motor is a 1981 and boat is not a tunnel hull, just a standard transom. I'm not familiar with a CMC PT-130, what is it? Would a power T/T unit that fits between the brackets fit my motor? I've got a good lead on where one of those is for a good price.

    Trim and Tilt

Hey folks, I'm looking at a 1981 Johnson outboard that belonged to my brothers preacher who died last year. It is suppose to be a very low hour motor that has been very well cared for. I haven't actually seen it yet buy my brother was able to write down the serial and model number. According...
