I have a 1971 9.5. I can only get it to start with a shot of starting fluid in the carb. It runs great once it starts. I don't want to make a habit of using starting fluid on a 2-stroke motor. I was going to take the carb off, clean it, set the float level and see if it makes a difference. Or...
I picked up a rod that has was I believe are Canadian or Euro specs on it. The Length is in centimeters (210) and the Action is B10-20. I've never heard of that type of figure for action. Anybody know how to decode that? Thanks.
I've been cruising Craigslist for a beamy 14 footer, but couldn't pass on this low-mileage '71 Valco 12 with a '71 Evinrude 9.5 for $300. This was garage kept most of it's life. The boat is cherry! Original paint, perfect Valco stickers and transom wood, no dent or dings. Came with Eide transom...
I've got a 1965 9.5 that hasn't been run since February. It was last run with a Stabil mix. Now it won't start. It runs for a few seconds when I dump pre-mix in the carb, but that's it. The fuel pump is working, but the plugs are dry when I pull them. I've never experienced no fuel before with...
It's time to replace the plywood seat tops on my Gregor 12. I was looking at sanded 3/8" exterior plywood at Home Depot & Lowe's for around $25 a sheet. Does anybody know of any better or cheaper materials to use? Marine plywood is not an option. Too many $$. Thanks.
I picked up a '64 9.5HP at a garage sale. It runs OK, but both clampscrews are seized. I've tried penetrating oil, WD-40 and heat with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.
Thanks, guys. Since the dents in question are above the waterline, I'll pass on pounding them out. The rest of the hull is pretty straight. According to Gregor's web site, the hull sides are .063" and the bottom is .080. Pretty tough stuff.
I just picked up a 1988 Gregor 12 footer. There are a few shallow, but sharp dents in the hull. Any tips on banging out aluminum. I’ve heard it can crack. Does heat help? Thanks.
I picked up a Mirror Dinghy today for free. The owner included a weird anchor that he didn’t know anything about.
It looks like a basic mushroom anchor, but is made of plastic. It weighs nothing. The shank is hollow and unscrews from the base. It is 10” high and about 9.5” across at the base...
I just picked up a very used Sears 12 v-hull. The space for the year on the registration form says "unknown". I've been trying to date it, but the ID tags are long gone. It does have foam flotation blocks under the last two seats. Anybody know when manufacturers started doing that? Was it a...
