i own a 1971 16' super sport and an 1985 18' super sport they both have duel consoles with walk thru windshileds so if yours was made like it sits i would say its not an SS but someone could have taken the other console and windshield off . There great boats i've owned 5 of them and quite a few...

just cut the aluminum plate with a skill saw with fine carbide teeth cut slowly you will be happy strait cuts fast

i have a 1971 ss whith a 2001 merc 4 stroke 25 hp big foot two 27 series batterys 6 gallon tank .with just me@205 lbs i get 23 mph gps out of it .I dont think my boat is close to 900 lbs where are you getting that figure

your oak ply is only a very thin vener of oak and is not exterior grade glued so it is not your best choice i use mdo plywood on all my boat work about 60$ asheet for 3/4 inch i put it in a friends boat 4 years ago he did not cover it with anything and it's still like new
