    Blue Bluegill!

You know, I think more fishermen would appreciate their catch, if after catching a fish, just pause for a short moment to hold the fish in the sunlight and concentrate on it's beautiful colors. A quick catch, unhook and a toss back or into the live well,... you just won't see the beauty that...

    Anyone fish in C.A. ?

I got all excited when I saw CA, because that is the abbreviation for California, (without the periods) which is where I'm at. I guess you meant C.R. Sorry- I wish I could say I've fish in Costa Rica, but nope, never have.

    Blue Bluegill!

And here's a pink version, but to be honest, this one was not from Lake Perris. But still, it's a PINK Bluegill!

    Blue Bluegill!

Here's another one with light bars on a dark body, which is just the opposite of most Bluegill coloration.

    Blue Bluegill!

This is not really a fishing report, but more of just an interesting photo of the color of some of the Bluegill that can be caught at my local lake here in southern California. Lake Perris was stocked with Florida "coppernose" Bluegill back in the mid 1970s, after the dam was completed and the...

Minn Kota 36 lbs thrust on 12 footer?

I am thinking of putting a 2005 Minn Kota Endura trolling motor (36lbs. of thrust), that is like new, on my lightweight 12 ft aluminum boat to use as my main motor, instead of an outboard. My local fishing lake is about 3 miles long and 2 miles wide. I probably won't go very far to get to my...

Pappy- Thank you very much for the reply. Can you give me any info as to where I might find the OEM carb kit and other parts for this motor?

    1972 Evinrude 4 HP Lightwin

I am the original owner of this motor that has been in storage since 1997. Prior to that, it was used just a couple times each year. I'm going to clean the spark plugs, put fresh gas/oil in the gas tank and see if she'll still run as good as she did 14 years ago. I plan on putting it on my old...

Shimano Bantom 100 ultralight baitcasting reel

Going through some old storage boxes today, I found an old gem of a reel that I had forgotten about. This baitcaster is rated for 4 to 8 lb test line and I had it spooled with Maxima 4 lb test, and I was using it for bass fishing with live crawdads. I bought it new way back in 1978, and at...

First Post : My California Project 12 ft. Blue Gill

Wow! We are neighbors! Actually I am in Riverside, Ca and also am working on an older 12 ft aluminum boat, but my boat will be used primarily for Bluegill and crappie fishing at my close by lake, Lake Perris. You can see my boat here under "My California 12 footer" Hey keep the progress photos...

Cleaning out an older gas tank

I have a 1972 Evinrude 4 hp "Lightwin" thats in pretty good shape, that I will be working on soon, but I want to clean out the inside of the 3 gallon gas tank that came with the motor. Is there a chemical or carb cleaner that I should put in the tank to help clean out the old fuel and oil deposits?

    18 inch Black Crappie

While fishing from my float tube for Bluegills on Lake Perris, Ca, I caught this, my personal best crappie on a 1/48 oz hand-tied jig/waxworm and 2 lb test line. Thought I had a lake record Bluegill on my line, but it turned out it may have been a record crappie, but I release it after taking a...
