My guess is a standard 2x8, (probably an 8-footer from Lowes). Doesn't look treated to me. There are usually indentations throughout the surface to allow for deeper penetration of the chemicals. NLaudy will have to tell us who's right...
So, I've posted a couple questions in other areas on this site, but I figured it was time to start documenting my mods / refurb of this little boat. I think this site is a great resource, so I figured I would share what I'm doing in the hopes of some mutual knowledge passing back and forth...
Not sure about the year, but I'm quite certain you have an Alumacraft F7. I recently picked up a very similar boat myself. Mine is a '72 model F7. It is 14' and has the same configuration of seats.
The Hull ID Number (HIN) is located on the bow, just above the bow eye (included a pic of...

Next questions relates to the thickness of the wood in the inside and outside. The F7 had 1" thick oak on the inside...
I'm partial to solid wood, so I'd prefer to avoid plywood. My main question is teak vs. mahogany and oil vs. varnish to seal. What are your experiences & recommendations?
I have a '72 Alumacraft F7 that I'm fixing up.

Just got my hands on an Alumacraft F7 from 72. It is rated for 24 HP.
Two questions:
Is a 25 HP too much power considering the 24 HP rating (practically speaking, I realize the obvious technical faux pas)
I am considering buying a 1995 Mercury tiller short shaft, 25 HP 2 stroke. The seller...
