    84' vs 76' Johnson 9.9

I should fit. I just did this conversion. Put a 9.9 short shaft on a 15 long shaft motor. You'll need to pull the powerhead as posted above, but its pretty simple.

1977 15hp johnson. how to remove upper driveshaft.

No, There was no water in the lower unit. Even with the pump removed the shaft still doesn't slide out. On the long shaft unit it did.

Added Reese transom tie downs..($40.00) .Love 'em.

Mine on my last boat rusted (fresh water only) so I removed them. I am just as fast with normal straps so I saw no real benefit. I did not replace them with the same straps, I went back to hooks at both ends. I am sure like everything else, there are good manufacturers and bad. I certainly...

Post a Pic of your boat!

Her is mine. Finally done. Bought as a blank canvas with a 9.9 tiller motor. Took everything off her and started over. Even got a different trailer for it. Original trailer was a flat boat trailer that was WAY too tall for a modified vee. Only thing that is original at this point is the stern...

    Evinrude 18hp Fastwin

Not sure if the year your asking about had a pressure tank, but if it does, switch it over to a fuel pump and single line. I did not like my 18, was a cantankerous motor to say the least. I sent it down the road. I wouldn't pay more than scrap weight for a motor I couldn't hear run before...

Catfish homebrew baits. What do you use?

Just started getting back into catfishing. Wondering what everyone uses for bait. Tried Punchboats, but they all seem to suck. Cut shad seem to be the go to. But are harder to come by and I have no way to keep them for the next outing if I don't use em. Anyhow what is your recipe or secret...

    Xpress boats:

I have owned one. Good boats. Don't feel it was any better built than my current Lowe roughneck though and I paid a lot less for the lowe. Just my 2 cents.

Trolling motor platform and mount on the front of a Tin

I just wanted to find the person that already made one so I could send the pic to my dad. I tried explaining it over the phone but it was lost in translation. Was a aluminum vee with a small deck (not for standing on) made at the front specifically for the troll motor vertical mount. I...

Dual purpose battery, yes or no

I understand they aren't new to the market yesterday, But we had to run a deep cycle battery for trolling and a cranking battery for starting back in the day. its just newer technology (relatively speaking) that I have never ventured into before. With my motor being a little 25, I am going to...

What is the "go to" sealant for riveted hull boats.

Agreed, This is how we do aircraft skin repairs. Clecos are a must. Dad sealed it with some epoxy of some sort. Havent been out to see it yet. But I am sure I will shake my head.. Thanks everyone.

    Weight balance.

This. I don't ADD weight just for ballast if I can help it. I try to relocate existing weight . Keep in mind our little boats are very weight sensitive so I try not to add any weight I don't need.

    Trouble with my Weldbilt

Sorry to hear about this, Unfortunately you are not the first to find out about inferior manufacturing of these guys. A friend of mine in Alabama had to beach his boat to save it from sinking due to broken welds. Only been in the rivers down there but still broke up. Hope you take legal...
