    Is there anything?

I know this discussion is old, but if you want to make Brussels sprouts... Marinade a good heap of baby sprouts (cut into halves) in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic & a chopped fresh lemon (squeeze a bit, to get at the juice). Either put the whole works in foil & bake, or throw them on the...

    Pressure treated question.

I found a great recipe on another forum. It's an old-school, tried & true method that has worked really well, for a lot of people. 1 part boiled linseed oil 2 parts mineral spirits 1 part quality spar urethane, (like Helmsman) Mix it up, really well. Brush it on, until your wood stops...

1986 Alumacraft Trophy 170 Transom Rebuild

To do the splashwell drains, I ordered aluminum tubes with a single flange & then I got some 5/8" hardware & some 1/2" tube fittings.

1986 Alumacraft Trophy 170 Transom Rebuild

I just got done rebuilding the transom on my boat. The motor hung in my garage for 8 days, while I went through the process of tearing it apart & putting it back together. I tested the finished product & it put a smile on my face. No leaks & strong as an ox. Here are some photos...

    Kit's 1970 Lund C-14 Fisherman

Thank you. Hmmm...I should have taken photos of that part. I cut exterior grade plywood (not the green stuff), to fit the existing brackets & seat mounts. The plywood got a few coats of spar varnish. Then, I used outdoor carpet adhesive, to attach the carpet & stapled to the underside (like you...

    Kit's 1970 Lund C-14 Fisherman

After adding the extra weight, I took the boat on the water & checked my speed with a GPS. I was able to hit 20.4 mph, with my 1968 Johnson 20hp motor. Then, I noticed it was pulling water up the transom & should be raised up. I moved the motor as far up as it could go (an extra 1.25"). I'm now...

    Talk to me about outboards.

My 1968 Johnson 20hp was pushing my 1970 Lund 14' tin boat at around 22mph, 2 years ago (before I had everything dialed in). I haven't checked it, lately...But, I don't see why you'd have too much trouble getting 25mph from a newer 25hp, with the boat you mention.

    Easy homemade anchor

My grandfather used to make them with ice cream pails, concrete & big eyebolts.

    Kit's 1970 Lund C-14 Fisherman

Wow...That's pretty cool. Your old setup looks nearly identical. I thought about taking out the middle seat, but there's very little room in these boats to add replacement foam. And, I wasn't sure about how that would influence wieght distribution & rigidity. I still might do it, in the future...

Thank you! There was a whole lotta sweat involved, with the weather we've been having.

    Kit's 1970 Lund C-14 Fisherman

Now, it's not 100% complete & it isn't gorgeous... But, I took the old girl out on the water last night, to see how I like the changes. Turns out, it's a much better fishing machine than it used to be. I'll have to mount the depth finder & trolling motor...Do some wiring...And, add a few little...

    What to use for flotation?

+1! If you've ever had pool noodles that have been exposed to the elements for more than a couple years, you'll know they're a terrible investment. They start to crumble & flake, very quickly. I'd be afraid of what I can't see, below the floor.

    Kit's 1970 Lund C-14 Fisherman

Well, I've been slowly making progress. It's been a little hard to get much done, with the heat & humidity here in Maple Grove, MN. I know it's not the most glamorous build, but I'm really happy with what I've got, so far. I hope the functionality keeps me happy. I may still opt for a small...

    Any homebrewers?

Beersmith rocks! You can input your brewing system details, then configure recipes & the program will anticipate your resulting efficiencies, temperature steps, IBUs, color & more. I can't believe I ever brewed great beer without it.

Yes...The white trailer is mine. I believe the stickers on the fenders say "Shore Station".
