    Picked up a 1971 6hp Evinrude Fisherman

As promised, here's some pics. The motor was made in Peterborough, Canada. I wasn't able to get it running; when I tried priming fuel was spraying from between the fuel line connector and receptacle on the motor. Not sure if it's wear or they are not compatible...

    Picked up a 1971 6hp Evinrude Fisherman

Those are some messy looking coils. I got it to tinker and learn more than anything. If it turns out to need nothing more than some maintenance items, so much the better.

    Picked up a 1971 6hp Evinrude Fisherman

(Noticed I haven't posted in awhile; I'd say this is a good welcome back post...) A friend of mine is moving house and was cleaning out his outbuildings and had a couple of old outboards stashed. Looking at a blurry photo, I didn't recognize a few of them, but I spied the front panel controls...

What do you do for a living? or Fun (boating not allowed)

Started back in July as a appraiser for a local collision centre after being unemployed for 10 months. Entering my 15th year as a member of the Army Reserve; I'm a Sergeant in the Artillery. Did a tour to Afghanistan in 2006-2007. Spend weekends doing Gunnery. This year will be a test to see if...

How many of you have kicked rods overboard?

I had a Fenwick Smallmouth EliteTech/Shimano Calcutta B combo resting in my boat with the tip up while using the HMG. Hooked the ET on the backswing of my cast and pulled the works clear over my head and into the lake. Luckily the line on the ET was hooked to the spinnerbait I was using and I...

I've about had it up to here....

Sounds like a lot of weirdness going on. The '90 8hp Merc I used last year never gave any trouble at all. I treated all the fuel with Startron, and ran it dry at the end of every weekend. Before I sold it back in May, I fired it up in the bucket to wake it up from the winter and it took one...

Post a Pic of your boat!

Here's an updated pic of the Springbok with the new motor on it. Plans for after the season are to replace the transom wood, then clean and paint the interior.

    New motor day - '13 Mercury 9.9 4-Stroke

In the interests of simplified logistics, a cleaner lake, less smoke and the advancement of quiet weekends at the cottage, our Springbok will now be powered by a slightly used Mercury 9.9 4-stroke. Getting the introduction to it in the test tank at the dealer, I gotta say I'm impressed with it...

Where to find Abu Garcia parts - Orra S30 spare spool

Looks like the E-Replacement Parts is the best bet. The others either can't/don't have it or don't ship to Canada.

Where to find Abu Garcia parts - Orra S30 spare spool

G'day, I'm looking for a spare spool for my Orra S30 spinning reel, the part number on the list that came with it is 1252772. Anyone know of a place that might actually have one? Thanks.

Rewiring Question - 7 pin to 4 pin

So, I ended up converting from a 7 pin to a 4 pin, with the help of a circuit tester and some other electrical odds and sods. The 7 pin receptacle was rusted right out, no wonder it didn't work. I didn't remove all the extra wiring, it's still there to convert it back. Thanks for the feedback.

I have a pair of Shimano Calcutta 101B's on the way; can't wait to use them.
