    10w-40 alternatives?

Rotella dropped their gas engine rating awhile ago. Who knows if they changed their formula or didn't pay to renew the gas engine rating. Their loss because a lot of folks used it in gas engines. I quit buying it for my small engines and use another straight 30hd. My boat gets marine lube...

Do you own, or consider owning a jump starter?

Be a nice addition to the tool box for sure.

3 gal or 6 gal tank for 15hp 4 stroke?

I would go three gallon for sure. Both boats I've owned had six and gas would get condensation and never came close to burning even a gallon on an outing. Three would be better for weight, room, and keeping it fresh. Old boat was a 15hp 2 smoke and new one is a 25 efi 4 stroke. The 4 stroke is...

    14'v bottom or 15/42 jon?

I fish rivers mostly and bayou areas. I also do big lakes when on vacation and bring my boat along. I wouldn't even consider a v bottom. Went with a mod v jon. Best of both worlds. I had a 1448 Lowe and you could easily stand up front. I upgraded to a 16 50something aluminum bass jon. Its...

Mount/anchor cooler and other items without drilling holes

Nice! I did that around my battery box. It was jumping all around when going down the road.

    Cheap marine carpet

I picked some outdoor sandstone color at Menards. Think I paid about 60 bucks or so for materials. Two years and still looks nice. I wait till mud and sand dry then shop vac or regular vaccuum it. When it gets real bad power washer. Ditch the heavy rubber mats.

Talk me out of a flat bottom

All I've owned is mod v. They do noticeably ride better and you don't get that water slapping noise in the front like on a flat bottom. They do cut waves nice as well when headed into someone elses wake. Trade off is that extra room and funky floor angles if you want to put a floor in it. I...

    lowe 1648t qeustion

I'd walk away from that one. Boats are all over the place for sale all the time. Find one that hasn't been messed with in better shape set up for fishing. Father in-law just bought a similar setup and is regretting it. He bought in haste and it's going to cost him time and money to get his ex...

    Lowe Skorpion

Well folks here she is in my garage. Spent some time checking it over today. Can't believe the engine oil looks like it was just poured in and grease in trailer hubs is still red. This thing is minty fresh. Had to replace a fuel line connection. Will change fluids in engine to make myself feel...

    Lowe Skorpion

Yes it is rated for a fifty. He let me take it out today and play with it. Seems like a nice boat for what I enjoy doing. My only complaint was the 25hp is a dog. Really slow to get on plane and mild mannered. The fuel injection is nice however and no more mixing gas. Be nice not to have to run...

    Lowe Skorpion

Well I was not planning an upgrade but my neighbors just hung a for sale sign on their fishing boat. Looks like the guy is pissed and caved to his wife. Bought a pontoon pleasure craft. He threw all his fishing gear in the boat. Everything goes he said. It's a 2012 Lowe Skorpion with a Merc 25...

    Johnson 4.0 Find

Traded it for a 22 rifle and a crispy new 50 dollar bill. I had 45 bucks invested. I'm happy and off to the range with my boy. Will be out for more of these for sure.

    Johnson 4.0 Find

Hit an estate sale this week and found a nice little Johnson 4hp. It looks like new and is all original right down to the spark plugs. Bought it as a little flip project. I checked the water pump, carb, and plugs. Everything looked great and didn't need to be taken apart. I put it back together...

What color should I paint my trailer?

Satin black is the only color for a trailer of any kind. I fix them up and if they are any other color they sit and don't sell. Fresh coat of satin black they are gone in an hour. It goes with everything and hides imperfections.

    Utility boat question

I have a Lowe1448MV it seems thin compared to some of my relatives welded duck boats. Those duck boats are heavy as all get out. Unless you are jumping logs with a muck motor on the back it is unnecessary. My Lowe is nice and light and moves out nice with a 15hp although it is rated for a 25hp...
