New Member - New Boat Project

Thanks. I got the hatches from Cabelas. I built the boat for pond hopping with the idea that there wouldn't be boat ramps and I could take off the outboard and back the boat off in the lake, then use the winch to get it back on the trailer. In reality, I've only used it a couple times for...

New Member - New Boat Project

Hey everybody, I hate to revive an old dead post, but I found the bookmark for this site and realized I never posted photos of my boat after I "finished" it. Not that it will ever be finished, but it's to a point where I can fish out of it. Here's what it looked like with the decks in place...

    1436 alumacraft - opinions wanted

Here are a couple links to some bigger pictures from earlier in the build. That's the best I've got... https://huntingclub.ms/images/Nates%20Boat/IMG_68181.jpg https://huntingclub.ms/images/Nates%20Boat/IMG_68221.jpg https://huntingclub.ms/images/Nates%20Boat/IMG_68311.jpg

I used angle aluminum and it's solid as a rock.

    Red Ring of Death

Mine did the same thing, I haven't even bothered to call about it. It's just been sitting on the floor dead for a couple of months now. I'm starting to miss Gears of War. :(

    Hatch storage question

The foam inside the seats doesn't do you a bit of good for flotation unless your entire boat is full of water. Take out as much of it as you want, and just keep your boat right side up.

    abu garcia silver max

I've got a Silver Max just like that, I thought it was a great reel until it started messing up on me. It got to where it doesn't always engage, so when I go to set the hook, if I'm not holding the handle, the reel will spin backwards and backlash. Or when I'm landing a fish, I have to keep my...

    Flotation Foam

Pics and a detailed report! You could make all the area under the decks air tight and fill the space with helium!

    Flotation Foam

It depends on how unstable your boat is and what you're willing to try, but here's an idea... You could always bolt some PVC pipe down each side of your boat, with the ends capped and glued, of course. You can get pipe or conduit clamps to do this. The trade off is that you'd have to drill holes...

    Flotation Foam

That's 100% correct. Foam inside a boat does nothing to help flotation unless the boat takes on water. Buoyancy of an object is determined by how much water the object displaces vs. its weight. The only way to make a boat float better is to increase the surface area in contact with the water...

    Sunset Pics

Hey, bcritch. I did a quick edit on the 4 of these for you so you could see the types of things that can be done. I spent around a minute on each one, just cleaning it up and bringing some color and details out. I used the free program, GIMP, that G3-Guy mentioned. It's a great program and...

    blowin fuses!

I'd try a local electrical parts/supply house - something like Rexel or Graybar. Get a Fluke, I've had mine for over 10 years and it's never missed a lick. Fluke is what the power company uses and what most electricians I've seen use.

    Question for Old Motor Gurus

Hi guys, Along with my free boat project, I was given a motor that I was told has run in the last few years. Having never owned a boat with any outboard motor, I'd love any information you can give me about this motor. The only thing I can find on it is that it is an Evinrude Fastwin with a...

    trolling motor wiring question

Plus, with a breaker, you just reset it and get back to fishing if it was a false alarm. If you've got a fuse and no spare, you get to paddle back.
