    Jon Boat Paint / Camo

After allowing the coat of primer to dry / cure...did you then wipe the primed coat down with acetone before the finish coats? Additionally, should you wipe down with acetone between every additional coat?

    Jon Boat Paint / Camo

Looking for some tips / advice. I have a Tracker Sportsman 18 Jon. The original paint is adhering fine (normal scratches, wore places...with no flaking around those edges). I'm going to repaint the boat (camo). I've purchased the Parkers Duck Boat Primer and Parkers paint for the base coat...

25 HP Mercury will not shift into gear

Yes it revs up fine. What is a "spun hub"? High winds got me pinned to the bank, can't even get anyone to tow me if I wanted too. Sux. Worst camping trip in a while. Thanks for the input.

25 HP Mercury will not shift into gear

I have a '97 Merc 25 HP shift on the handle / throttle. Here at the lake turkey hunting and last night went to shift it into gear and nothing. Took cover off, can see all parts moving freely, shifting in forward and reverse. Actually, it now shifts into forward and reverse more freely now...

    Aluminum floor question

I had assumed I would use SS self tapping screw so that I could take it back out if I ever needed to.....and because I have no experience with rivets. People seem to recommend the rivets over the screws. Are they easy? What if you have to remove? Would they a be a little more trouble then?

    Aluminum floor question

I am leaning towards flooring my boat with aluminum with closed cell foam beneath. Did anyone else have concerns with screwing the aluminum sheet goods to the aluminum ribs? (From a vibration standpoint). I found a website that sells rubber sheets or rolls fairly cheap and had the idea of...

Any advice on painting an outboard motor would be appreciate

For whatever reason I can see the pics on the phone rather than the computer. That motor looks GREAT! Did you do that with spray paint from the can? Any tips on how to get that smooth even finish instead of looking like I spray painted it? Did you spray with clear coat after painting?

What prep is necessary for painting

I'm going to repaint my jon back to original jon boat green. Was going to by the Parker's duck boat paint in the hunter green. What should I do to prep? If the original paint from the mfg is not really coming off, do I really have to strip? Do I need to use primer? Can I just pressure wash...

Deck of a floor idea in a 1436 jon boat

I'm trying to make the same decision with what to floor my jon with. I get blood in the boat from deer and hogs. I was leaning towards closed cell foam insulation and the aluminum idea. If it's closed cell insulation, will it really inhibit that much water drainage? There are channels in the...
