Do you own, or consider owning a jump starter?

I have multiple: The Viking from Harbor Freight--got it on sale/with coupon for cheap--it works as long as the battery being jumped isn't completely drained A smaller Everstart Lithium, and the large Everstart with tire inflator. Also have two older Black and Decker portable power stations...

Sea Nymph Bass Attacker or Bass Tracker Pro 17

Sounds as if you like the Sea Nymph. If the engine is sound and no leaks, I'd get the Sea Nymph.

    In boat rod holders/storage?

Lexel holds up over time when the surfaces are prepped well. No problems encountered 1 Clean the PVC board and boat area with isopropyl alcohol 2 Rub the surfaces with 150 grit 3 Clean again with isopropyl 4 Apply Lexel--use gorilla tape/clamps/weights to improve bonding as the Lexel cures...

    In boat rod holders/storage?

Here's a few ideas. No drilling into the boat or cooler. 1. Cut PVC board to desired length 2. Drill rod holder into PVC board 3. Lexel the back of the PVC board and adhere where you want the rod holder

    Primer questions

Unless your boat will be seeing lots of salt water, just put on the Rustoleum oil based enamel over the self etching primer If seeing salt water, I would do self etching primer, then clean metal primer, then oil based enamel top coats

    Soft or hard cooler?

Soft cooler if you don't mind it leaking, and only need to keep items cool for one day. I'll second the Ozark trail rotomolded coolers for value, strength, and ice retention ability. The Coleman Extreme Marine (without the wheels), is a good compromise (lighter than the Ozark trail), but I...

Painting over the original Lowe paint

I'd bet that they didn't bother to sand either. If you do a good job cleaning and sanding over original paint, it really provides a good substrate for top coats.

    Question regarding paint

Sure, no problem to wait 48hrs between topcoat layers Might even get better results Be sure to wet sand with 800grit and wipe down with mineral spirits prior to the final topcoat application With the final layer of topcoat I doubled the amount of hardener for the final topcoat layer—the final...

    Question regarding paint

Apply a light coat of the self etching primer Wait 30 minutes and apply a light coat of the clean metal primer Then You have two options on when to coat over a light application of clean metal primer If you have time constraints, do it after 30 minutes (if you coat over it within the first...

    Question regarding paint

I would only consider zinc chromate if planning on lots of salt water exposure It is extremely toxic and not worth the risks if primarily using the boat in freshwater If you are getting down to bare metal with a freshwater boat, I’d just use Rustoleum self etching primer, then Rustoleum bare...

    Question regarding paint

Oil based clear coat might look good for a few weeks, but would start to look hazy and peel. If you want that shiny finish, wet sanding with 3000 grit and polish would be more effective and long lasting. With epoxy paints, epoxy clear coats look great and are very durable for a long time.
