Need a recommendation for where to buy deck(carpeted) screws

I have a question regarding using rivets for this. If the wood is 1/2" and carpeted. You are looking at thickness of 5/8" plus the thickness of the metal below the wood for the minimum length of the rivet. So, for the sake of discussion lets say that comes to 3/4". How long should the "grip range" o...

Hatch Hindges - What kind? Where to buy?

Thank you all for your replies. I am thinking I can get some wide piano hinges (1 1/2" or 2") and take them to a metal fabrication shop and get them to bend them. There is a shop not too far from my house that said they would only charge me "a case of beer" to do something like that. :D So, I will g...

Hatch Hindges - What kind? Where to buy?

I want to use a piano style hinge for my storage hatches because I don't want something screwed down on top of the carpet as the hinge. The only problem is I am using plywood and don't like the idea of screwing into the side ... thru the layers. That doesn't sound like a good way to go. My boat has ...

Need a recommendation for where to buy deck(carpeted) screws

I am about to carpet the deck/floor wood and realized I don't have a plan for how to screw the deck and floor back down.

The screws used before were rusted junk. I didn't save any of them.

I assume I should use SS screws.

Any recommendations of where to buy them?

Thanks.

How much DAP Weldwood Contact Cement to use gluing carpets?

I am replacing the floor and deck on my boat and redoing the carpet. As per recommendations on this forum I painted the wood with oil based paint. I am at the point of gluing down the carpet. I am just unsure of how much glue to use? I have seen videos of guys using specific notched spreaders for re...

Decking question - how much space to allow for carpet?

I am replacing the floor and decking of my boat. The wood that was there was rotted so I can't make a good template from the old wood. I need to make a new one. How much space should I allow on either side for carpet? For example, if the width of the floor is 48", how much narrower should I really c...

'86 Sea Nymph Traveler Project

And so it begins... I have finally started on fixing my boat. I have ripped out the decking/flooring. I will be replacing all of the electrical (except for starting the motor - that is fine) - bilge, lights, new switch panel, new lights. My plan is to use a mixture of aluminum angle, aluminum square...

About to start a carpeting project ... a few questions.

I have a new-to-me boat that I am about to start working on. The carpet and wood in my boat are in need of replacement. The wood is in OK shape, it is still fairly solid but wasn't treated very well and is starting to get soft around the edges. The carpet is started to get thin/tear along the edges....

Teleflex Steering Cable Removal - Need Help

Unfortunately there is no pin. This is an older model that doesn't have the pin. I called Seastar tech support. The guy wasn't very helpful. I am going to try cleaning the end of the cable that was sticking out of the helm. It seems a bit gunked up. It should have had a cover/sleeve over it, but tha...

Teleflex Steering Cable Removal - Need Help

I have an old Teleflex SH5023 steering helm and I am trying to replace it. I already have the new helm. I can't seem to get the steering cable all the way out. I gets to a certain point and then it just gets stuck. Since I going to trash this helm anyway, should I just completely dismantle it or is ...

Spectrum 16' Flat Bottom (Mod V?)

I want a fishing boat around 16' - 18'. I usually fish with a total of 2 maybe 3 people in the boat. I like to fish for bass/crappie/catfish in smaller lakes/reservoirs. Speed isn't all that important - I just want to have plenty of storage and a front casting deck/trolling motor area. I had a 16' R...
