16/48 Tracker w/ 145 HP

Wow! Nice fabrication. Love to have something like that but My SF agent wife would drop my insurance like a hot potato if I went over my Jon's HP rating. And I know, she did it when I exceeded my 17' Pro-Lines HP by 30 HP. Had to go with progressive Ins. Check my Google Earth Foo. Are the last scene...

Flotation pods? Do they help?

These would probably be the easiest and least expensive solution for your bow rise getting on plane.

30 hp etec or keep my old

I had the new lightweight Zuke 60HP in my sights till I got estimates with rigging. Around $7K  I figure I could get around $2K for my freshly restored '03 50HP OMC with harness, controls, freshly rebuilt T&T and SS prop. I sat down and figured how many miles I could get at 4MPG with $5K. 11 ...

Glad that you lucked out. Most of the guys that have posted on the various fishing sites that I frequent got away with little damage. Of course, some who haven't yet posted may be out of power and just too darn busy to post. Thanks Rich, we're only out the $1,600 to get the other half of the cedar ...

S Tampa 1/3ed of the way down the peninsula here. We're Crackers and heavily prepped. Only big loss was half my 60' Cedar that was the highlight of my 30 years of landscaping. Went through my new fence bounced off my neighbors barrel tile roof and ended up resting across her pool. Only out of juice ...

Idle adjustment screw?

I only adjust idle with the motor in a tub or in the water. The waters back pressure on the exhaust is part of the equation.

Dodged a bullet on my '99 115 HP Fitch

Sure You're not thinking of the V-6's? The V-4's are good engines.

Dodged a bullet on my '99 115 HP Fitch

I use my Jon at my lake place at least 50-60 days a year so my Pro-Line at my other home just sits.....and sits, been over 3 years since it's moved. I usually start it on the hose at least every 3 weeks and run ethanol free 91, Stabil blue and Sea Foam in it. Always fires right up but not last week....

Holy Grail of Trolling Motor Plugs

I'm mounting a 4500 lb ATV winch to my trailer tongue so I can dunk my boat on my private ramp at my lake place. I don't always have the tow vehicle my DW prefers when I'm there and a manual shift Miata won't cut it. Going to use my existing trolling motor Deep cycle group 31 battery up front under ...

Cheap handheld GPS for the boat

I can't believe the price drop on these handhelds. I paid over $400 for my Garmin 60C back around '04.

Still works great, if it ever breaks I guess I'll get my next one out of a Cracker-Jacks box.

Stainless Props on small motors - good, bad, ugly?

SS props are cupped on the trailing edge. This gives lift, lift raises more of the hull out of the water at cruise, less hull in the water means less whetted surface and less resistance, lower resistance creates higher RPM (less load on the engine), higher RPM at a given throttle setting means great...
