Transom savers....a middle ground

The idea of a transom saver is that all the mass moves as one unit. The motor puts a strain on the transom because of leverage by the motor. The transom saver reduces the leverage by attaching it to the trailer, no leverage, no flex at the transom. This is why wedges don't work; the motor still has ...

Prop size gurus, I need some help, 3 blade to 4 blade

Engine is as high up on the transom as it will go and the AV plate is running out of the water while on plane; I think the height is good. Jack plate would be the next step there though... Prop has this written in it, it looks like someone used an engraver to write it though. Precision Propeller, Tu...

Airsoft weekend...

The last few years my son has had airsoft wars for his birthday parties. This year we are having it at the lake; camping all weekend, 15 kids in tactical gear shooting at each other, moms and dads hanging out around the fire and crappie fishing at night.

Gonna be a grand weekend!

Just a few questions..

I sold my 5 HP Merc for $500, I can't remember the year but it was newer that 2003; but not by much I think.

Prop size gurus, I need some help, 3 blade to 4 blade

She sits low in the stern so I am looking to get some stern lift and she handles like a wet noodle (slides REALLY bad in corners at speed). The 4 blade prop will take care of both problems; I just want the RPMs to be the same or a bit higher. She is 17'-9" OAL, 80" beam and 58" chine to chine at the...

OKay, the speedo is relative anyway; if it's wrong now it'll still be wrong with the new prop. I can run new numbers this weekend with the GPS instead of the water wheel. Regardless, it is still relative...

So what about the 14 x 21 x 4 prop? Good place to start?

DrNip's Weld-Craft 1248

Yep, I would be calling 25 times a day and then leaving about 15 messages after they closed... They would probably ask to give my money back so I would go away; or they would have my BOAT MOTOR IN BY NOW! (screaming at them now you!) Definitely give them a bad review on their yelp, Google ...

Ran the boat today to get a good set of numbers. I made 6 two mile runs (one into the wind one with the wind); each lap's speed was averaged from my GPS log (using the water speedometer instead of the GPS speedo). Here are the results: Motor specs: 1984 Evinrude, 150 HP, V6, 15 Spline shaft RPM Rang...
