Jon Boat Outboard

"I assume the Yamaha is a long shaft and the Tohatsu is a short but if they are both the same shaft length have you ever swapped them out to see how each performs on the opposite hull?" You are correct the Yamaha is a long shaft and the Tohatsu is a short shaft. Also the 1442 is a much lighter rivet...

Jon Boat Outboard

I have a Yamaha 2019 F25C on the back of a 1648 War Eagle. Depending on the load it pushes it around 27-28 mph with factory 11-1/4 pitch prop. The motor is turning around 5800 - 5900 rpms. I also have a 2019 Tohatsu 20 EFI on the back of a Alumacraft 1442. It will pushes it around 28-29 with factory...

New motor

Still fishing at 80 is awesome! Congratulations to your father for still having the drive and ability to get out on the water. I had a Weld Craft 1544 with a 25 Yamaha 2 stroke, that was a great setup and one I should have never sold. I think Weld Craft is one of the better made jon boats out there ...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

My last oil change was w/o oil filter. I ran the motor on the hose for about 5 minutes and let the oil settle before checking it, which was just below the half way mark. After running it for a couple of hours on the lake the oil level moved up to all most touching the high mark, it stayed there for ...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

I give the oil at least an hour or so to settle before I check it, then I check again the next day. I also make sure the motor is in the same position (motor tilt and trailer height) each time I check it. This past week the lake was very calm and not many boats were out. I took advantage of it and r...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

It is under warranty and I do plan on taking it in for a check up this week. I don't need to be buying parts when I could have the dealer install them under warranty. At first I thought the fuel pump wouldn't cost but a few bucks that's not the case anymore. After doing another complete oil change l...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

TurboTodd, I think the engine temp is ok. After running it for a few minutes I took the cowling off and placed my hand on the side of the engine. It was pretty warm. Not blistering hot but not a place you would want to leave your hand for very long. I am in the process of changing the oil but I only...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

TurboTodd below are my responses to your questions. Thanks for your help. I don't idle a lot but I do give my engine at least 3 minutes to warm up, preferably 5 minutes. I don't have a data log but I could probably get one once things settle down with CV. The prop is the standard factory aluminum pr...

2019 Yamaha F25 making oil

I now have almost 50 hours on my 2019 Yamaha F25 and it continues to make oil. After my first oil change I ran it for about 15 hours before checking it. The oil was past the full level and almost touching the rubber plug. I pumped out as much as I could without doing a complete oil change and filled...

1990 Suzuki 40 skip at WOT

Thanks for all the responses, you guys are the best. After reading all the excellent information I have to believe it's most likely the rev limiter. It only seems to have the skip when I am by myself and only at WOT. Idle is good and mid-range is good. The skip is quick and short unlike fuel starvat...

1990 Suzuki 40 skip at WOT

I recently purchased a 1990 Suzuki 40/25 jet drive that has seen very little use over the years. It is a 2 stroke with oil injection system. It cranks up quickly and idles perfect but at WOT it has a skip. I can back off the throttle slightly and the skip goes away. Is it the rev-limiter kicking in ...

AlumaCraft 1442 Jon Boat pictures

I have an AlumaCraft 1442 flat bottom jon boat that I am starting to do a conversion on. If you are willing to share pictures I would love to see some previous conversions of boats like mine or similar to it. Thanks

Alumacraft paint

"You can order from alumacraft

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk"

Thanks. I just sent AlumaCraft an email and requested info on how to order the paint. My local dealer told me they didn't offer touch up paint so I was looking for something that would be close to factory paint.
