how fast 9.9 on a 14' guessing

I'm shocked to hear some of the speeds others are getting out of their boats. I'm running a 12' semi V that weighs around 450lbs loaded with me and all the mods I put in it. I've got a 77' Johnson 15hp 2 stroke that's running like a top with a 9.5x10 pitch new quicksilver prop on it. I'm getting 18....

Anyone know where I can find this part for my Johnson 15hp?

Sorry guys, it's a 1977 15hp pull start, short shaft. Everywhere I look for parts for this motor, no one has the exploded view for the tiller handle assembly, they only have them for later model motors.

Anyone know where I can find this part for my Johnson 15hp?

I'm going to try, but I need a part number to give him. It's a half hour drive each way to the nearest dealer, and I'm not going to drive just to order it, I'd rather call with a part number and then pick it up when it gets there. Any help would be appreciated if someone knows how to get the part # ...

Anyone know where I can find this part for my Johnson 15hp?

Thanks for the info Pappy.

Does anyone know the exact part number? I've looked to try and find on all the online sites, and no one has the parts for the tiller handle listed with an exploded diagram.........

My new project - 12' Sears Semi-V *Pic Update 3/21*

One quick picture of the boat in it's final state. I was fishing on a local electric only lake and snapped this picture. I'll post more when the motor decals get here and finally get installed.

It's the cover that folds when you raise the tiller arm, with those 4 plugs that snap it into place as you can see in the pic. I've looked everywhere, and the original was destroyed when I bought the motor. Any ideas on where I can pick a new one up? https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/ringostar...

My new project - 12' Sears Semi-V *Pic Update 3/21*

Thought I would make a quick update to this thread for those of you following it. I've fished the boat a LOT over the past 2 months. Overall I really like it, I don't think you could ask much more from a 12' boat. A few things I'd do differently next time.......... The rear pedestal is pretty much u...

Do you run at WOT for extended periods of time?

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. I'm not super concerned now hearing some of the input, and gas mileage isn't really a concern either.......even at WOT I'm getting somewhere around 20+ miles per 3 gallon tank with my little 15hp motor.

Do you run at WOT for extended periods of time?

So I've got a 1977 Johnson 15hp motor on my Sears 12' semi-v. I've got a handful of fishing spots that really require a pretty good distance run to get to my fishing destination. Sometimes I'll run the boat 5-10 miles at wide open throttle. My main fishing partner has said to me that with the ethano...

What brand prop?

Just curious what brand prop you guys are running, and what your thoughts are on quality, etc....... I'm currently running a 1977 Johnson 15hp on my 12' semi v. I'm 99% sure it's the original prop. Once in a great while, while under full throttle, it appears that the hub will spin a bit inside the m...

1448 with 9.9 will it Plane ?

My main fishing partner has a 1448 Misty Harbor with a 9.9 Merc 2 stroke on it. It will not plane with even one guy in it.

weight capacity issues of 12' v hull

A few thoughts....... I've got a early 1970's Sears 12' semi v. The boat has a 585lb capacity on it. As of now, my mod has the following things in it......... 15hp Johnson - 76lbs Carpeted plywood front floor (angle aluminum frame underneath) - 25lbs Carpeted plywood tops on both seats - 20lbs Carpe...

what rod holder?

I'm using the same thing on my boat as well. Keeps 6-7 rods out of the way and safe even in my small 12' boat.
