That part is a guide for the starter rope handle. Very nice to have. Your choice. You do not have to become a member. Go to the Webvertise section in there and state what you need. Or Ebay.

You probably just found your issue. The check ball is actually what closes off a port in the primer.

Static water line................... You mentioned that your waterline in your barrel was barely over the cavitation plate. That is a very low static waterline. When you actually put the engine on the transom and in the water with the normal load onboard that you typically carry you will notice tha...

Before Pappy comes back and politely tells me I'm a chasing the wrong rabbit I'll mention I found a previous post from 2015 and don't feel the reed is my problem. The light I see is VERY slight and Pappy previously pointed out the pressure created by the internals of the crank case is more than lik...

Apparently someone thought that the 18 was enough for the boat you purchased so make your decision to either keep it or invest in another one. If you decide to keep it then your decision to not skimp and to spend the money on exactly the parts you have mentioned is a very good decision. A good runn...

It has been mentioned in this forum a myriad of times that the best way to adjust your carburetor is with the engine on the boat and in the water. This sets up the correct (running) back pressure on the exhaust and the engine should be adjusted this way. Any other type of adjustment should be consi...

Not hard on the engine to do this. The engine leans out as the fuel level in the fuel bowl drops.

Does the fuel pump supply fuel to the carburetor throughout the RPM range? If so, leave it alone. The diaphragm in a fuel pump is not a valve! The diaphragm is the "pump" that oscillates back and forth with the positive and negative pulses provided by the crankcase. There are small umbrella valves ...

Has to be set with a timing light at WOT full advance. NOT on a hose! Timing specs may be on a sticker on your engine or available from a service manual.

Nope....fuel lines cannot siphon a fuel bowl dry. Yes, a primer bulb has a check valve in it. You should be able to blow through from the inlet to the outlet. That is how the primer bulb is able to fill the fuel bowl. What you have to remember here is that the engine does not need a fuel pump at al...

Curious as to why you would think an air bubble has anything to do with this?? First off. Do you have a choke on the engine or a primer system? This has to be answered. An owner manual should tell you this or you may find it in a parts diagram. Makes a difference in starting technique but we will c...
