Re: Hydrofoil

As usual, we disagree on Foils vs Tabs. Since you do it Full Time and I am just a User... As far a loss of speed...of course the tabs contact the water. I said... No Appreciable Loss of Speed. My experience with the one hydrofoil that I had was a loss of 2 or 3 mph. Perhaps the setup wasn't ideal, b...

Re: Hydrofoil

Let's talk about the balancing and stabilizing effect of tabs or foils. Both/either definitely help the boat, especially if it has porpoising problems. A hydrofoil is a single "pedestal" on which the boat is riding when moving quickly. Tabs (any tabs) are TWO "pedestals" on which the boat is riding ...

Re: Hydrofoil

I've had both, a foil and 3 sets of Smart Tabs, on 3 different boats. Smart Tabs were far better, IMHO. As far as drilling holes, I'd rather drill into my boat (which can be patched if ever necessary,) than into my motor. With Tabs (any Tabs, really)... No more porpoising; far better planing at very...

Re: STARCRAFT SERIAL NUMBERS

Chuck, I think that the original poster was from Canada. I blew up his picture of the boat that was posted earlier in this thread. His boat does not have the STATE letters that normally show up in US registrations, and the sign behind his boat says Candian Tire ( i think). Hence, unless you are in C...

For you beard guys..from the Smithsonian today

"
In 1698, Peter the Great imposed a beard tax in an effort to westernize Russian nobility. Records indicate that Henry VIII taxed beards in 16th-century England, too."

Re: Balding, perhaps there is hope....

Sorry, Jim. It would take a LOT more than hair for any of us to look like that!

Besides, you'd have to spend valuable boating time beating off the women.

FL underwater pier camera

This is a live underwater camera at the end of a fishing pier in Florida. It will be taken down in the next few days due to the hurricane. It should be put back up after the storm, though.

ENJOY

Have you been following the Swamp Runner Bering sea adventures?

These guys just finished 2000 miles in open boats through the Canadian/Bering sea areas.

They are one of our sponsors and I've been following then on Facebook.
Their website also has the stories. rich

Re: Who knows something about planer boards?

Good to know.

I've been doing a bit of both. At this very moment, I am moving some rod holders around so that I can use the Track that came on my 2007 Lowe tinny.

Re: It was a very good July this year

Doesn't the painter know that you want to go fishing? Can't he work at night and get done so you can do your thing? Some people have no appreciation for the necessities of life.

Ha Ha Thanks.

It was a very good July this year

As I posted earlier in the month, an old fisherman convinced me to start fishing much deeper than I had been. The end results of his suggestion were over 50 LM bass caught and released. It is a bit boring to be dragging worms on the bottom compared to winding and cranking, but my wrists appreciated ...
