There is no real advantage to Marine plywood for our use. BCX plywood properly sealed will last a long time. I like using Old timers formula.

The motor I have now is a short shaft so I would want a boat with a 15" transom. If I had a long shaft motor I would want a boat with a 20" transom.

Old timers is a mix of Spar varnish or Spar urethane, Boiled linseed oil and Mineral spirts. I think carpet can be glued to it but I have not done it.

Yes too much pressure in one spot. A carpeted 2x4 as wide as the hull will spread the load.

It looks to me like your bow stop is the issue. I would replace the bow stop with a carpeted 2x4.

An hour ago the state of Illinois announced that we will be going to "Stay At Home" Tomorrow! We have several freezers full of food, prescription med are refiled, enough dog food for more than month and the eqvalent of 72 rolls of toilet paper.

Tremclad paint in Canada?

What I understand is Tremcald is the Canadian brand name of Rustoleum. It does very well on aluminum, thinner and hardener helps a lot.
