Re: What am I ?? do you know ???

Longer trailers are easier to back up. If the length is not an issue for storage I'd leave it, also you never know when you might get a longer boat.

Re: Trailer spindles too short

Depending on how old your trailer is there are what is known as long and short spindles and hubs. The measurement from where the seal rides to the end of the threads are different along with the hub.

Re: alumacraft fd, paint and i have a question

If I understand you correctly you can use Rustoleum spray cans of self etching primer and quart or gallon cans of primer and top coat. Roll and tip is a great way to get a smooth paint job.

I'd recommend BCX grade plywood sealed with Old Timers Formula.

Re: 1980 monark capacity plate help.

I run a 25hp Mariner/Yamaha on a 1436 jon and is a bit over powered too. How does it float? How does it handle? Does it feel safe? Since it's not a tiller boat you can run a bit higher HP.
If your ok with it don't worry about it.

Re: Best way to seal riveted seams?

What the original sealer is I don't know. Many people have used Aircraft stripper without issue.

Re: Best way to seal riveted seams?

Once you have the seam cleaned you can heat it with a heat gun or blow dryer and apply super glue to the seam. Don't get the seam too hot as you could burn the material in the seam.

Re: Transom wood advice

Marine plywood will rot just as fast as any other plywood if not sealed. What makes marine plywood better is it has less to no voids in the plies and is made with waterproof glues. Exterior plywood ACX, BCX would have been a good choice as it is made with water proof glue too. I suggest sealing your...

Re: alumacraft fd, paint and i have a question

You only need a light coat of the self etching primer a couple of spray cans will do. Whatever top coat I'm using I will use primer by the same company they were engineered to work together. Rustoleum's self etching primer, primer and topcoat.

Update.
I installed a Tekonsha T-one trailer wiring kit. Installation was very easy and so far it works as it should.

After the self etching primer use Rustoleum clean metal primer.
