Finally happening!!

Great looking work you did there. Just wondering how many hours do you have into the work on the boat?

Motor for Jon boat?

I have a 12' Polar Kraft and have a 6hp Johnson on it now. It is a short shaft and does the job. As I add more weight I think I'll need a little more hp. My Polar Kraft is a 1257 and is a little heavy.

Boats: Its a Buyers Market in Some Places

I am in SW Florida and there are a ton of jon boats that are for sale, very reasonable. I paid 150 for a 12' Polar Kraft 1257 and found a 16' trailer a week later for 80. If somebody is patient and does not mind a drive the boats are here. Tampa and the surrounding area is good also.

Value for 9.8 mercury

I ended up getting $150 for it from a guy who needed it for parts. Just glad to have it out of my garage.

6 hp Seahorse service questions ( Which sparkplug is best)

Does anyone have experience with spark plugs as far as which is better Champion NGK or Bosch for a small hp motor. I use Bosch in all my stuff around the house (lawn equipment and pressure washers). I will be using the motor in mostly salt water if that makes a difference. thanks

6 hp Seahorse service questions

Thanks for the help. I found the freeze plug last night. It was very well hidden. Anyhow the top number is J6RCRM and the bottom number is E5874267. Does this mean it could be a 1987? On the Johnson parts website it does not have this model number but a model number which is J6CRUD or J6RLCUD. Shoul...

6 hp Seahorse service questions

Still can't find a serial number and cannot find the frost plug. The only thing I noticed is on the mount for a transom is 10 13 82. I am guessing it is at least a 1982 but don't know if Johnson just made a bunch of the brackets for later use on the small motors. I'll keep looking so I can at least ...

6 hp Seahorse service questions

Hey guys. I just got home after picking up a 6 hp Johnson Seahorse for very cheap. A few questions, if I may. 1. What is a safe way to clean the inner housing, can I use a mild engine cleaner as long as I keep it away from the coil? 2. When we started it the water was flowing very lightly from the p...

Bimini top

Hey fellas just wondering if anyone has experience with putting a bimini top on a jon boat. I have a Polar Kraft 1257 and can't find a bimini top on line that will just bolt on. Don't have access to a metal shop where I can build a frame and then make a top. If anyone has a suggestion for an online ...

4-stroke Eska?

How do you think the 4 cycle air cooled would do in salt water. I am in Florida and fish the mangroves and flats. I am interested in the Eska conversion though. Did someone say there were other people doing the conversions?
