Corona Virus

I am doing OK at the moment. We are not being forced to quarantine right now except for people with symptoms and visitors coming in. I work at a fuel farm at the airport and we have to have someone there 24-7-365 in case something catastrophic happens. If they force stay at home I will have to go to...

107 year old Evinrude back in service! 1913 at it's best.

Nice. I like to see old motors come back to life. Just be careful, I bet that knob on top of the flywheel would hurt if it came into contact with a body part while running.

I’ve got 2 boats with trailers so I got hit twice. The state is broke. They gotta pay for stuff somehow. I get them back though. Now that I’m retired, I don’t have to pay any state income tax on my retirement benefits and income.
As of yet. You wait. They are coming for you.

Hub and Bearing replacement?

If there is no grinding or unusual resistance when you turn the wheel I think the bearings should be OK but I can't bee 100% sure without seeing it myself. If you take the hub off and clean the bearings and races look for any pitting, flat spots, grooves, wear marks or scratches on the bearings and ...

Under water cameras

I have a GoPro Hero 7 Black. It is waterproof to 10 meters(33 Feet) according to the manual. I used it underwater while snorkeling in Hawaii back in December. It worked excellent. Just make sure the doors are closed. The doors have a rubber seal around the edge that seals out water. I did lubricate ...

How many boats have oarlock mounts?

When I was young we had a 12' v hull with oar locks. We had the oars and under our own muscle power we could get that thing moving at a pretty good clip. I would estimate in the 10 knot range.

Oil extractor?

I have the Mightvac 7400 and it works well. I am a truck mechanic and use it for fuels, oils, water and any other fluids I need to get pumped out and it works great. I have had it a few years now and it has held up very well.

Stuck float on carb that was recently rebuilt

Yes. If the float is stuck you will not use it until it is fixed.

3M makes a weatherstrip adhesive that I have found to be very good at gluing rubber door seals to door frames. It also works well in other types of applications.

Back in 1989 after hurricane Hugo came through Charleston SC insurance providers would walk down the same street and if they found out you had flood insurance they would declare your house was damaged by wind. If they found out you had wind and hail insurance they would declare your house was damage...

old mixed gas

Turbotodd, You are correct. I used to deliver gas to stations by tanker. One thing that heard people say a lot is that one brand was better than another brand. They do not know that it all came from the same place. Exxon, Shell, Amoco, Hess and any others trucks would load at the same terminal getti...

Jim, I ordered one. That may help me find those small air leaks. As for the stick incense, I don't think that would be wise since it is aircraft fuel trucks I am working on and they wouldn't be happy knowing I am under them with a smoldering flame. Thanks for the tip.
