No ignition

Remeasured secondary side again with another VOM and now reads 8900 ohms which is still off from about the required 30K ohms. Going to tinker with the motor tomorrow before ordering a new coil.

No ignition

Just came back from a week of fishing. During that time, we fished two lakes in one day and my Honda BF15 manual start ran flawlessly. It started each time on the first pull even at 7000-9000 feet elevations! The very next day at the same lakes, no start but continued fishing with the oars and troll...

Safety Chain on your outboard???

I added bolts through the motor mounts and through the transom with Locktite on the threads. If someone wants to steal it, that's another issue.

need your opinion on new boat

IMO and at my age  a power tilt and trim would be essential for a 40hp outboard. I've had a 48 and a 40 hp with hydraulic tilt and trim and wouldn't be without it. Again, just my two cents.

Proper trim?

I'd like to sort of hijack this thread and ask if anyone has trim tabs on their tins as previous poster mentioned that our tins usually don't have any powered tilt and trim? I installed some trim tabs on my glass boat this year and it made a tremendous difference in the hole shot and getting on plan...

Fixer-upper or a a recycler special?

I'd boogie on out of there.

I bought a solid welded 14' Gregor with two outboards and a trailer for $500. Of course the tires were toast but after much love, it's our go to fresh water boat!

No lake patrol? Unfortunately there are going to be people like that with no consideration for others.

Bilge Pump Question

I don't have an electric bilge pump but carry a manual hand bilge pump on my tin. I do carry two drain plugs that are chained to the transom. The "bilge" area is easily visible so any signs of water will draw my attention. I have an Atwood bilge pump on my glass boat as the bilge is under the gas ta...

Painted plywood floor in boat

I have 1/2" plywood floors and painted them with outdoor concrete paint. I added the non-slip granules to the paint. It's going on three years now with no wear in sight. The light grey color is comfortable even to bare feet in the sun.

Blazing fast new computer

Yes, I tried two different browsers with the same results. This is the first time I've had problems with Gmail but what concerns me is that no one from Gmail cares to answer. Oh well, luckily it was free. My old computer had Vista and was adequate. Windows 8 will take some getting use to. Seems to h...
