    Leaky gas connect

Use the stuff that says its for gas fittings. Its thicker than the stuff for water fittings but im sure there are other diffrences between the two.

    Prop selection

If it ran good before jack plate raised the motor than you need to lower the motor. Some setups run better with cav plate 2 inches above bottom of hull others 2 inches below. Its all trial and error untill you find that sweet spot. The prop shouldnt need changed just because you added a jack...

    Leaky gas connect

Do you have thread sealer on fittings? Ive always used ptfe tape that you can get in any plumbing section and its worked fine.

    Prop selection

Your 15hp should easily plane out a 1432 jon. I had an 8hp on a 1432 and it would plane with 2 people. Are you running with the motor tilted all the way down? You need to experiment with the trim by trying diffrent mounting holes. An aluminum prop is fine and you mentioned running rivers if the...

Best way to humanly kill catfish? But keep them fresh?

whenever I am going after eater size catfish I always clean and filet them on the boat. I use my large cooler as a cleaning table and use a kabar potbelly knife to chop off their heads then filet them. Once filleted i place filets in a zip lock bag then into the cooler. They stay in cooler...

How much weight do you normally have in your boat?

You really got me thinking so I actually pulled out a piece of paper amd starting making a list of everything on board my 1648 mod v. With me and my friend at 220lbs each plus 25hp motor and all the batteries and gear we are right around 1000 lbs. I occasionally have another 200 plus pound...

    Upper Potomac

Were any of you out around mouth of monocacy yesterday? Seen someone in a black xpress with a jet and another in a older bass tracker jet. I was in the alumacraft with the prop motor. We tore up smallmouths with tube baits all day and managed to catch 7 catfish after dark. The catfish are...

    I wanna go fast!

Get a tach and play with diffrent pitch props. In my experience stainless props dont make much of a diffrence on small motors.

Motor/hull set up questions (with pics and vids)

It lools ok to me. I have the same motor except mine says mariner on it and almost the same boat mime is just a mod vee with the 20" transom and I found I get best performance from running on the fourth pin hole from bottom. It lifts front pretty food at first but planes out quick and rpms drop...

Hey I'm new can I have some help here

Its been done before and several manufactures make center consoles for jon boats. I wouldnt go any narrower than a 60" bottom so you have plenty of room to walk around the consloe. I would aslo reccomend a mod v instead of a flat bottom especially for big water. You will probably also want the...

    Upper Potomac

I make my own maps using google earth. Md dnr shows all boat ramps listed by county they are located in. Google search Md boat ramps. I will tell you this avoid nolands ferry ramp like the plague it is washed out bad and not taken care of. If you use the Mouth of monocacy ramp when crossing...

    Upper Potomac

I have a 16' with a 25hp prop and I usually put in at mouth of monocay. If i use the shallow water drive I can run all the way up to nolands ferry but i have to go slow once I get up to the islands. If the water is up a little I can go as far down as whites ferry with the only real trouble spot...

Hydroturf on the way - question about old adhesive & install

I installed my hydroturf with 3m super 90. Its held up good except for where gas tank sits. I think some gas got on it and realeased the glue. I had bare aluminum to start with but i wiped everything down with acetone before installing just to make sure it was well cleaned.

How do you transport your tackle?

I have a cabelas tackle bag that holds 8 large plano boxes and has plenty of pockets for soft plactics and anything else. aThe only thing not in it is the 4-12oz sinkers I use for catfish. Those stay in a compartment on my boat because they just make the bag too heavy.

Bent prop shaft and no water flow... related? (solved)

Your 1995 2 stroke is not a tohatsu. Tohatsu only makes the 4 strokes 30hp and under for merc. Your merc is the same motor as my 1994 mariner 25hp and the impellar change is easy. Hardest part for me is getting the dang shift linkage hooked back up .

Help! Lower unit will not come off!

Hhmmm....try to rotate the prop back and forth a little while you pull down on lower unit. If that doesnt work a few gentle taps with a rubber mallett might break it free. Could just be a really thight drive shaft or a small burr on driveshaft holding things up.

Help! Lower unit will not come off!

Did you undo the shift linkage bolt? I think on the yammi fourstrokes its two nuts that tighten on top of each other. Should be located on front in the mid section of your outboard.. There is an expoesed section of shift rod and you will see the two nuts. Loosen lower one a full turn then loosen...

Shimano Crucial vs. St. Croix Avid - Crankbait Rod

The avid blows away the crucial. Both have lifetime waranty. Since its just a crankbait rod having the most sensitive rod isnt needed but the avid has a much nicer grip and a reels seat you wont have to re tighten throughout the day. If your gonna be throwing 20ft cranks I wouldnt go higher than...

12 foot semi V, 8 HP johnson -adding a foil?

My current boat is a 1648 when i bought the outboard for it a 25hp merc it had a stingray on it. The only thing it did was keep the bow down which isnt always a good thing. I like to keep my bow lifted a bit at slow speed when cutting through larger waves and a foil will not allow you to do...
