Running a boat in 12" of water?

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't even care about the increased power if there is any at all. I just want to raise that motor as a precaution in case I'm ever in skinny water.

Running a boat in 12" of water?

Would installing a manual jack plate to raise the outboard A few inches be worth it for this little boat?

Running a boat in 12" of water?

Yes I decided to avoid very shallow water until I get one of these. I should consider myself lucky I didn't hit any stumps or large rocks.

    pop up ads

I'm almost always on this site on my iPhone so I don't get popups. But I really like the idea of something like Charter memberships or something with a once a year fee.

Running a boat in 12" of water?

So this may be a pretty dumb question but how can some people run their flat boats fast and safely in 12" of water like they say they do? Only asking because I have a 1232 jonboat with a 6hp Tohatsu and I took my boat to the wekiva river the other day. Water level was pretty low and I got to a...

    Books on outboard motors?

I'm just now in the market for an outboard and I've learned a lot from reading all the helpful posts in this forum. However, I am new to outboards and when I buy something this expensive I like to know about how it works as well as diagnosing and fixing common problems. Like with firearms I read...

Hello all this is my first post with pics of my first boat.

Welcome! And very nice boat. I love cat fishing too. I just wished I could go up to north FL for some flathead catfish. I only catch Channel cats here but still very fun.

Which brand for a brand new 6HP?

The ratings on the boat are up to 10hp but I went to a dealer today to look at the Tohatsu outboards and those 9.8s and very heavy. If I went with a 10hp it would have to be a two stroke. I may just purchase the 6hp from the dealer since it's only $88 more than online outboards and they are only...

Which brand for a brand new 6HP?

Thanks for the info guys. I was going to buy the outboard off the online outboards website since they have the Tohatsu for $1299 shipped. I'm a little concerned if it will be enough power for my boat. It's a 12 footer Sears Gamefisher and it weighs about 120 lbs. empty.

Which brand for a brand new 6HP?

So I'm in the market for a brand new outboard to put on my 12' jon boat. I'm trying to decide between Yamaha, Mercury and Tohatsu. I'm really interested in the Tohatsu because of the price but is there anything I should know about each brand before choosing one? Edit - Btw, it will be in...
