SliderG5 - Sliding Bench Boat Seat Mount

I have (2) G5 sliders on my 1542 Topper. They are fantastic seat sliders. There are pins to lock them in place when traveling. My only issue is the powder coating is starting to wear off. Now, I've had these for about 5 years, so I guess nothing lasts forever. I'll be contacting the company...

    Inexpensive Live Well Project

I have the exact setup, but with a white "marine" cooler. I freeze water in 20 oz plastic bottles, 7/8ths full so there is room for expansion, and add them to the cooler. Helps keep the water a little colder during those hotter parts of the day.

    Movable transducer bracket

I used these guys. I now have a portable fish finder, including mount. It allows you to use whichever fish finder you wish, so you're not limited to the "smaller" ones. I run a DragonFly 5 for about 2-3 days on one charge. Give 'em a look...

    Rivet repair - leaking water

I found 3 rivets that leaked when I bought my boat as well. I re-bucked them and they sealed up just fine. It is a two person job though, and very loud. It'll get the neighbors looking outside when you do it... R, Bobby

    Tracker 1542 Upgrade

Zero grease. They just slide on a plastic wedge. Mine have beenin use for 3-4 years now, only issue is the powder coating. I installed them using the included stainless screws. I believe it takes about 8 screws for each slider bracket.

    Tracker 1542 Upgrade

Seat brackets are fantastic. The design is awesome, and aluminum is thick and sturdy. The only drawback is the powdercoating; it didn't last s long as I thought it would.

    New Lowe 1448 modifications

Jay, These guys know what they're talking about. Mods are great, but unnecessary ones just cost money with zero gains. Take it out for a month or so (even longer if you can stand it) and take notes on what would be nice to have vs. what you actually need. I have a Tracker 1542 and all...

    Cam Follower Retainer O-Ring

Been back from Afghanistan for a little over a week now. Had the boat out duck/goose hunting four times, and not a single issue with the cam follower. Maybe new parts corrected the issue? Didn't see anything wrong with the old part, so a little confused. But, thankful there haven't been more...

    mount bracket

Another option is to ask Dawson to make you one. He's awesome at fab work, and very reasonable. He's also a Tinboats sponsor. https://www.fishonfabrications.com/ R, Bobby

    Cam Follower Retainer O-Ring

Friend already bought the new parts and installed. This happened to us while out fishing one day, so I showed him what the issue was, and how to fix it. I have 2-3 spare o-rings I take with me all the time, so when I get home, I'll re-do the cam follower and o-ring with no lube. Then the easy...

    Cam Follower Retainer O-Ring

Pappy, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am using the OEM o-ring, and coating it with marine grease. It's just weird how after the first one failed, it happens again every 4-5 months. I even check it at the boat ramp before I launch now. Nice to know the missing piece won't cause any damage...

    Cam Follower Retainer O-Ring

This one is for Pappy, but any help is appreciated. I have a 1993 Johnson 15hp Tiller, and the O-Ring (#3 in the diagram) that keeps the cam follower in place keeps either coming off or deteriorating, which causes the cam follower to come off and of course the engine will only go idle...

    Trolling Motor Questions

I would upgrade. Newer trolling motors are more quiet and have less power drain on the battery. Also, go a bit bigger; that welded 1542 is a bit heavier than my rivited 1542 which has a 36lb trolling motor.

    Lots of good mod ideas.

Dawson did some work on my Tracker 1542 a few years back, and I still am impressed with his work. He is very thorough and extremely professional. I would recommend him to anyone that needs some aluminum work done. I traveled from KY down to GA just to get work on my boat (that's how good he...

    David's 2017 Tracker 1542 Build

I have the same boat. I have a MinnKota AT 36 lb thrust (has 5 different speed settings, mostly run on 1 or 2; 95% of the time), and it's just fine. Your boat is very light-weight, so the trolling motor should be plenty powerful. I do agree that an outboard is nice, as I have a 15 hp, and it...

    Johnson 15 top speed

I have a 93 Johnson w/10 pitch prop (no hydrofoil) mounted on a 2011 Tracker 1542. I run 21mph with just me, and usually @ 18MPH w/2 people and gear. I also have my trim pin set all the way in, boat seems to ride better IMO.
