I too have my motor and battery located at opposite ends of the boat. For convenience sake in taking my Terrora (55lb) on/off the boat I used a plug set up I bought from Cabelas. Looking at these set ups, their wires are usually 8 gauge at best, sometimes 10 gauge. That's not good right?

Paint is certainly cheap enough. Not sure if it would work but it's worth a try. My local store that sells fiberglass and epoxy resin had a display where they painted EPS foam with epoxy. If I have any left over from my floors I might put a light coat on my foam that sits lowest in the boat.
