Alright...its been a while..... So, had a slight change of plans. Originally was just going to paint the boat, but upon clower inspection Dave and I noticed that there were quite a few rivets that were siliconed. We don't want to take any chances with it so...SteelFlex comes in the mail today!!

I've been thinking I want to name mine "The Wake-Field" (Tim Wakefield is my all time favorite Baseball player) but it was suggested that "Fishin' Magician" would be a better fit.

Would I be using to PVC as 'bumpers' to keep the boat from hitting the conduit? Or do I need to seal off the top and bottom of it to prevent the conduit from rusting? We will only be using a small trolling motor so the transom the way it is should be ok, right?

So I have some updates....... Dave sent me these pics a couple days ago... Pic 1, he pained the fenders (they were pretty rusty) Pic 2, you can see the new wood for the interior part of the transom (shouldn't it go all the way across, or does that no matter?) Pic 3, you can see the new light...

Good info so far. Let me give you more info. The boat is acutally bare aluminum, so there is no faded, cracking or peeling paint to worry about Secondly, sealing the boat is not a major concern (unless you mean sealing the paint on the boat) There are NO leaks in it, so I'm not worried about...

Thanks guys. One last question, when preparing the boat.....do I just clean it up good, wipe it down with ethanol let it dry and prime/paint? Or should I hit the entire boat with some really fine sandpaper to etch it up a bit and then clean, ethanol and then prime and paint?

You just need to wire the batteries in series. Wiring batteries in series will sum their voltages, if you were to wire then in parallel you'll sum the amperage instead. I think to recharge them you will have to separate them if you have a 12V charger. Someone else needs to chime in on this...

How do you plan on mounting the pontoons.? Are you going make cutouts in the sides of your Jon and run thrm through the hull or are you going to mount them across the top of the boat(like your grandfather)? Are you going to stick with making the pontoons out of PVC too?
