With both trolling motors I have had they say in the manual to disconnect the trolling motors when charging. I simply just bought a quick disconnect that ends right at the battery.

I would imagine only having a 30-35hp on that boat would be more than enough if you ask me. I have a 25hp on a 14ft and it hauls. Side note: A 100hp motor would be insane. Insanely fun that is.
