How old is your tin boat?

I'm guessing here but it seems to be a late 50's Starcraft. 11', wood rails, remnants of a bow cap, and star embossed end caps with handles. Picked up free as an abandoned boat...we're fishing in it all the time now!

Paint flaking...do I really need to paint?

Great advice and that is what we did. Boat only planes with my butt on the bow. We filled a bucket of yellow perch and picked up a couple bass and crappie too. Better to be fishing on the lake than in the garage!

handeling a small boat at a big boat launch solo

I actually don't have to license my boat as long as the HP is below 10. My fishing license gives me ramp privileges to the majority of ramps in my area. Some charge regardless but i haven't needed to go to those so far.

handeling a small boat at a big boat launch solo

Thanks for all the replys...iIve dropped in quite a few times since starting this thread and have found it quite easy to do so from the back of my truck solo. Although there is no way to do it dry as i have to get my tail gate almost to the water's edge. My concerns have been squished by the...

handeling a small boat at a big boat launch solo

Would love your feedback handling pulling a small boat out of the back of my truck & transferring all my gear solo at big boat launches. Pulling the boat out of the truck, motor(s) (looking to add a small gas engine to my electric soon), down rigger, & tackle takes time let alone the stress...

Paint flaking...do I really need to paint?

Would like to solicit some feedback to know what I should expect if I don't paint my boat right away. I came across this 11' Starcraft (I think) that was abandoned. There are no identification marks so I'm guessing at the age of late 50s to early 60s. Since I wand to fish in it asap...this...

    Minkota Endura 50 rebuild

It's kinda hard to tell but the left side is slightly bent where the pin insert is. This was causing crazy vibration at higher speeds.

    Minkota Endura 50 rebuild

Jim...I don't but could pretty easily. If it would help the group I can take it back apart.

    Minkota Endura 50 rebuild

Found a 2007 Endura 50 (2007) that someone didn't want because they couldn't get any power from it. After a good look over I found that the axle in the assembly was bent and was causing a real bad vibration. I was pleased to find out all the parts needed I could get from Minkota and only...

    New Member Introductions!

Hello all! MrT here, hailing from the West Coast (Seattle/Snohomish). I'm a husband (18 yrs), father of two kids (12/9), and make a living in the Technology industry but truth is I'd rather be moving at about 1.2mph sitting in a boat. I'm a self proclaimed life learner so always digging for...

    Buy or Build?

Hey Jim! I have time but would prefer to get out there and spend the $$ if it's the right deal. If I do get it then there are som mods I can still do for fun and look for a fixer with a deeper V in the 14-16 range. Overboard: Hi! Yeah...two kids but chances are I'm usually with only one at a...

    Buy or Build?

Quick question for this forum. I just happened upon you guys by accident and man...what have I been missing?!? I'm on the market for a small boat and have one in my sights. I'm curious to get this forums opinion on if you would bite or choose to build. I've not done a ton of research on...
