    New outboard-what brand?

In the Caloundra Marine video the Yami clearly struggles getting on plane. In the apples to apples comparison in the video (4 stroke vs. 4 stroke) the Zuki clearly beats the Yami. Not sure of the value of comparing 2 vs. 4 stroke but it was no surprise the 2 stroke had a torque advantage. It...

    New outboard-what brand?

Suzukis are great outboards. There may be issues with not as many dealers but ive owned a couple and there are lots of fishermen here in Hawaii who use them and swear by them including me. If reliability, great gas mileage and smooth are not your thing, look elsewhere 8)

Talk me out of one of these

I wouldnt get an inflatable made from PVC. Hypalon is way more durable and easy to patch. Also much more expensive. You will get a hole, you will have to patch...just the nature of inflatable boats. I think polyurethane may be an emerging material but even more expensive than hypalon.

    Suzuki Question

Ive had two and they are super smooth, well engineered and very reliable. Also great on gas. I also have a VStrom DL650 and it is the exact same thing.

    Float Pod Install

Solid work SM 8) What would you reckon is the safe working time of the 5200?

    Can I remove this?

Nice! Just what i was thinking with way better execution.

    Can I remove this?

+1 There should be a way to build up the sides with flat bar and then cover with a sheet to level the surface. 8) Manufacturer put that support there...id be really wary to remove.

    Float Pods

I was thinking the same thing! I dont know how i would get the photo though if my fat butt was in the boat. I'm adding them for all the reasons you noted as well as two others. The possibility of a following sea swamping the stern is lessened and also, when you take off the bow will rise which...

    Float Pods

Heres mine. I had flanges put on the top and motor side to bolt through and a 8" deckplate to access the inside for the rest of the fasteners. I'm not going to strip the paint on the transom. Im going to prep and prime the mating surface on the pods with zinc chromate and lightly sand the mating...

*EDIT* I Would like your guy's HELP!!!

I have a 16/48 and for me, its very stable. I walk all around mine. Why dont you ask the guy to take you out in the boat so you can see if you like it or not? Not sure how valuable my advice (or anyone else's) is. I might find a boat unstable whereas you might find it acceptable. I also mostly...

    Transom savers....a middle ground

The outboard you describe (power tilt and trim) is a mid sized motor. 50hp+? I think the disconnect here is we're comparing apples to oranges. The spring assisted TS's are pretty small and are for smaller outboards. i've had a Tohatsu 18, Honda 25 and Yami 15 and used them. At that weight the...

    Float Pods

No doubt! 2nd set of hands 2nd brain would be really helpful. Curious...who built your pods? I got mine from Fishon Fabrications. They look killer...really well done.

    Or not...

    Transom savers....a middle ground

Not necessarily. When jolts come from the ground up they are mitigated by what is essentially a dampener. It is the best of both worlds. Most all movement from the engine swaying is eliminated and jolts from the ground up dampened.

    Transom savers....a middle ground

That has to be the most concise explanation i've heard yet...and i totally agree.

    Boat collars

This boat is not a collared boat but designed with the reverse chine as a design feature. It does seem to have some unigue dual hull benefits but for our application i think you are correct they minimal. I have read on some Australian boat forums there have been some negative handling results...

    Boat collars

Been battling a cold and trying to get educated on foam and all the aspects of collars on aluminum boats. I'm not really 100% sure of all of what ive found but here it is anyway. The guy in OZ also builds boats and his thing is reversed chines and how they improve handling in rougher...
