    Leaking Seam

Thanks Johnny, that epoxy is much more fluid than the silicone we were using and may just do the trick. Tyler

    Leaking Seam

I thought of that, but I'm not sure of a way to get that under the rib itself. Unless they come with an extension, similar to WD40 that I could fit under and then just spray and pray... Tyler

    Leaking Seam

Hoisted it to the rafters filled it and didn't see anything, but in the water there is definitely a leak. Which is why I'm guessing it's the seam, that's directly above the center keel, so when it's raised the water on the inside drains and fills the center keel instead of falling to the floor...

    Leaking Seam

Got the boat in the water for the first time this year....woke up the next day to see a small amount of water in her. Right now I believe the leak is coming from the seam down the center (picture attached), but I think it's coming from under the structural rib (put silicon on the part of the...

    Framing Advice

I definitely agree with you on that. Part of our goal was to make any decking as removable as possible as we leave the boat in the water all summer. The elements tend to give it a fair beating. Tyler

    Framing Advice

Hi everyone, First boat renovation for me and I'm looking to install a small rear casting deck. I haven't been able to come up with a standout approach on my own, so I thought I would see if any other eyes/minds had input. Right now I think I'm going to frame the transom to be supported by...

    Guide for Painting Aluminum

Thanks for the help Johnny. Like I said it's been a beater. Once the ice clears and the dock is down the boat sits till the dock comes up, and to the best of my knowledge its been like that it's whole life (we inherited it ~10yrs ago). I was on the fence about painting the bottom. Ideally, I...

    Guide for Painting Aluminum

Woops, a few more details would probably help. Fresh water, I'm not too sure how old it is: 70's-80's...?? In the water 6-7 months of the year, stored in a garage over winter. To my recollection the majority of the boat isn't painted, only a small portion above the waterline. I was planning...

    Guide for Painting Aluminum

Hi, I'm hoping to give a bit of life to the aluminum beater at the cottage. I've gone down the rabbit hole of this site's search but have not come up with what I was hoping to find. And I've seen some conflicting approaches (sanding vs not sanding bare aluminum, wire vs. plastic grinders...
