looking for help with outboard selection

I grew up around boats and I feel that I had an honest grasp on the engines that were on the market 20-30 years ago. However, times have changed and so have boat motors. With so many different choices and vastly different designs today, I feel like I don't know where to start. I fully...

    Long winded rant...

The only thing that I don't like about Toyota is they don't offer the same diesel engine that the rest of the world gets. When I was in africa, EVERYONE drives Toyotas, and they love them. They like their Toyotas as much as people in Green Bay love the Packers! We're talking about an area...

    Prop Help

Hi, I've been restoring my older 14' polar craft and recently purchased a 25 hp mercury. It's a 1984 merc with a pretty beat up aluminum prop. So I've been searching for a replacement prop, but keep getting lost in the details. So, could someone please point me in the right direction. I...

    Looking for SteelFlex reviews

Does steelflex make the boat slide across the water better, (faster)? Or does the rough texture and added weight negate any friction loss'?

I emailed Polarkraft and this is what they sent me: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mike, I do not have any records of that serial number. It was built in Olive Branch, MS. That facility closed down in 2003 and production was...

    Ice how thick?

I couldn't find a picture, but it's basically an outboard with a big steel wheel on the end of the shaft. The wheel looks like a saw blade and allows you to "scratch" your flat bottom boat across the ice. They are fairly popular around here, the trappers use to use them quite a bit.

    Stainless prop vs aluminum prop?

Ummm....yeah. I didn't realize the price of SS vs AL. I can buy a lot of AL props for the cost of SS. Is there an AL prop that has better performance, or are they all about the same? Thanks for the help.

    Stainless prop vs aluminum prop?

I have a 25 hp merc on my 14' polarkraft flat bottom. I noticed the aluminum prop has a few dings in it, so I will file off the rough spots for now. I do want to get a new prop before next boating season, and I was wondering what the advantages are from SS to AL? I heard the SS is faster but...
