I'm buying a 1650 welded jon boat and was wondering if a 12 volt 55 pound trust trolling motor would be ok or do I need to step up to a 24volt 80 pound trust trolling motor? I fish electric lakes to a river? Thanks for your help

I'm looking at the same setup with a 20hp mercury. Do you have a 12 or 24 volt trolling motor? We have restricted lakes and electric only lakes. Can you get 20mph with 2 guys and how do you like your boat?
