    yamaha 2 stroke

Thanks for the input Deadmeat. Mine came with a 9 7/8 x 11 1/4 prop and it just seems that 6200 rpm is a little too much. The manual calls for the 25hp @ 5500 and if I go to a 14" pitch that'll put me pretty close. I'm an auto tech by trade, but not sure if I should prop it to spin @ 6000 or...

    yamaha 2 stroke

Whoo Hoo!!!!! Just finished breaking in a new 25hp yamaha 2 stroke. I got one of the last ones left around my area ( at least with the electric start). My old Duracraft is a rocket now. At 6200 rpm I'm getting 30 mph out of a 1536. Kinda scary fast in turns on that narrow bottom. Problem is ...

    Electric drive for alternator

Wow. Thanks for all the info guys. Still gonna take a run at it (combination of redneck and coonass heritage so how can I not try something crazy), but if it doesn't work, maybe I'll just use a bicycle chain drive type set up down by the foot of my camp lounge chair. If nothing else, the huffin...

    Electric drive for alternator

What I'm looking to do is make a on board charging system for my two deep cycles that will keep the batteries charged even if I decide to run the trolling motor for hours at a time. I do not want to carry a generator and the fuel to recharge my batteries for a two week stay in the Atchafalaya...

    Electric drive for alternator

Sorry about the confusion here. The motor that I'm talking about is the one that runs the radiator cooling fan. The other possibility was the motor that drives the heating and a/c fan. Either one is 12 volt powered and will turn in excess of 3000 rpm.

    Electric drive for alternator

Yeh, but what I'm after is a quiet way to run a Duracraft 1536 on a 2 week camping trip in southern Louisiana with me , my boat, and a 50 lb thrust Minn Kota and not have to carry fuel. I've got the best of both worlds coming up. Vacation and the wife is taking the grandkids to Florida for a...

    Electric drive for alternator

Could you use a automotive electric cooling fan motor or blower motor to drive a 105 amp GM one wire alternator? I'm a auto mechanic by trade and not a electrical guru, but since the cooling fan draws less than 30 amps and an alternator will reach full output at less than 3000 rpm, if it's...

Farthest you have been in your tin boat ???

1536 Duracraft w/1974 25 Evinrude times 22 gallons of fuel ( 12 gallon tank and two 5 gallon cans ) = over 8 hours of exploring the rivers and lakes in south Louisiana ( Amite, Tickfaw, Blood, and Blind rivers. Throw in Lake Maurepas and Lake Ponchetrain. ) and still ended up having to get back...

    Question about riveting

Oops. I should note that I just had the seat clamp on when I went swimming. After I riveted the seat clamp, I never had another problem with slipping.

    Question about riveting

Hi ya'll. Newbie to the board. Yeh I'm southern bred and cornbread fed. I just found this kick@@@ site and wanted to share a rivet trick I found out about. I'm a retired auto mechanic by trade and a few years back when my jon boat seat clamp cut loose and dumped me overboard in Lake Maurepas (...
