    1964 Duratech Skier

I would join the Duratech boat owners page on a Facebook. There are some very helpful and super knowledgeable people there. There is very, very little information widely available regarding these boats, and I’ve found this group to be an invaluable resource...

Four stroke 25 vs old 2 stroke

My 42 year old Johnson 35 is e-start, fires up instantly if you even look at the key sideways, and has shown no signs yet of reduced reliability. Also, it was stated earlier that there was only a 4# difference between a 2-stroke 30 and a 4-stroke 25? Not on the ones I’ve shopped. Maybe I’m...

    First post. New member.

Cool boat! No hull ID of any kind? Look closely at the top of the transom, the transom brackets, and everywhere at the back of the boat for stampings if the ID plates were removed. Anything stamped into the aluminum could be a clue. Red Cloud? Sounds like a prior owner may have been a Kick...

    My Duratech Meteor

Well, the refitting is in the home stretch and we’ve had her in the water a few times in the last couple of weeks. Good to be on the water again in this boat after 20+ years!

    Craigslist ad for project boat

Lol, I missed it thank god. I asked the seller to call if the buyer flaked out, but I guess it’s now sold. Apparently someone from Maine will now be emptying bank accounts and sleeping on the couch a lot.

    batery switch

I have the same general question. I hope someone will weigh in on this. I only run two batteries (starting and big trolling) and I was wondering if the charging system, when directed to the trolling motor battery, would shorten that deep cycles lifespan. I’d always been told to run them down...

    Craigslist ad for project boat

That is certainly the best, and only logical advice to follow. Although my eyes are both open and aware of the ludicrous amount of time and money this project would demand, I’m still quite capable of making terrible decisions. Good god, I must have the sickness...

    Craigslist ad for project boat

You got the deal of the century, man! The one I’m looking at could easily absorb your purchase price and result in a boat not worth a quarter of yours. But... I did call. The boat was “spoken for” but nobody has shown up with cash yet. I told the seller to give me a call if the buyer flakes...

    Using home improvement deck sealer

Many deck sealing products contain copper compounds (like pressure treated wood does) that degrade and corrode aluminum. Use nothing containing any copper/cupric oxide/ cupric anything in the ingredients.

    Craigslist ad for project boat

There are four, it’s a tandem axle, so it might be ok. I’m assuming it’s the original trailer, and these big tinnies aren’t like hauling a wood or fiberglass boat at their much heavier weight. Looks like a lot of work, but I have an open bay in my barn and winter is coming!

    Craigslist ad for project boat

Thanks, I hope I do too! The REALLY weird thing is, I showed this ad to my wife a little while ago and she said “you should totally go look at that, we need a bigger boat.” Ummmm, OK honey!

    My Duratech Meteor

Hello from Vermont. I’m in the home stretch of refurbishing a 1968 Duratech Meteor M4. It’s been in the family for about 25 years, but it’s been in the woods for the last 20. It just got a new deck, seats, dashboard, complete wiring system, new helm, and quite a bit of new brightwork. It’s a...

    Any Duratech owners here?

Sorry, just realized I posted to the wrong area with all the upside down photos, too. (!?!) I’ll post to the Boathouse

    New Member Introductions!

Hello everyone! Thanks for welcoming me into your forum. I’ve been awhile without a boat, so I rescued my mothers old Duratech from a 20 year repose. It’s taken a lot of work, but it’s almost ready to get in some late season fishing and take some fall foliage tours on the Connecticut River...
