If you have a choice.......Worst case, if you forgot it, and launched the boat, were would u like to be putting it in from, as you saw the water coming in?........I'd pick inside.....lol........ Mines on the inside, and a cord tying it to the transom so it doesn't grow legs and walk..... :)...

E-bay has a few for $20'ish......one wire wraps to a plug wire, and other attaches to engine block ( I.e. ground)...... Should be more than adequate for tuning a prop..... Just my 2 cents......
