Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a 9.9 for the 1436 Tracker. Although 'only' 90+ pounds I'm concerned about the .050" transom and want to install a transom saver. However the transom is probably 2' past the back of the trailer (and I can't adjust much at this point). I could bolt on some...

Transom saver if 1436 hangs well back of trailer?

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a 9.9 for the 1436 Tracker. Although 'only' 90+ pounds I'm concerned about the .050" transom and want to install a transom saver. However the transom is probably 2' past the back of the trailer (and I can't adjust much at this point). I could bolt on some...

Anyone tried to hang a small jet on a 1436?

I doubt it could take the weight and strain and the thin AL would be no fun on a 'mistake' but just dreaming. It's certainly the ultimate solution for where i want to go. I don't have room to garage a larger 'real jet' (i.e. Xpress!). Thanks.

6 HP on 1436; prop guard too?

So I finally want to convert my all electric (bow motor plus 80#/24V stern motor) to something that can get up river (Upper Potomac). Not looking for speed and mostly solo so 6 HP 4 stroke at around 60 pounds weight seems like good choice. Any recommendations on a small prop guard so i don't...

Anyone try to use 'Captain Hook' retriever on a Jon handle??

It would be nice to be able to use that thing to latch the winch hook to the front handle when the water is cold and I really don't want to slip in while retrieving! My concern is that the device itself may be a bit too large to get the winch hook onto the handle. Anyone try it? Thanks!! Steve

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

My bad back makes removing batteries from the boat or transferring other heavy stuff a significant risk. I'm trying to come up with a small portable 'crane', maybe even made from wood that will handle at least 50-60 pounds, preferable 100. Yes, a ceiling mount might do but I would rather not...

    Cutting 1" round hole?

I'm hesitant to take a saw to the side of the hull (for bilge pump outlet) and I can't locate a punch yet. I think the best solution would be a good ol' Greenlee punch. Ideas? Will a saw tear it up? Thanks! Steve

    Valu-Line opinions?

Hi gang, Getting set to start my Jon project. I'm looking at a package that includes a 1997 galvanized Valu-Line about an hour away. Looks fine in the pics but any opinions on that brand? Thanks!

Are older jons likely to be a thicker gauge aluminum?

Some of the new stuff is about like tin foil (.047, .053, etc). I've got a line on a Sears 1973 (with a 60s Clinton, lol) that I may look at tomorrow. I don't have outside calipers to check but what do you think? Thanks! Steve

Tracker 1436 stability good enough for conversion?

Well I hope I don't start a war but I'm tired of screwing around with Craigslist and I want to get started on an inexpensive conversion to get me back on the river (usually alone, occasionally with a grandkid or two). I'm about to buy a Topper 1436 new but I just saw a couple of posts that...

Plain or marine or treated lumber for deck projects??

Hi gang, Glad to be aboard and I've added a paragraph after my question so you'll know my story if you care, lol!! I'm about t pull the trigger on a realtively new Tracker 1436 with only a 5HP outboard and a trailer; not even a trolling motor. Ripe for conversion! Most of the excellent work...
