    40HP too much?

Hey guys. I was just wondering if a 1993 40HP Mercury was too much for a 16' Misty River. The boat is covered in Marine plywood, so that would add some weight. And anyone know why Misty River was closed? Thanks guys.

    Merc 7.5

Would a 7.5 Mercury be able to put a 14' tin on plane? The boat weighs about 175 lbs, and the people/equipment would weigh roughly 500 pounds. And in general, is this a decent motor? Not sure on the year, looks roughly 1970ish. Thanks guys.
