    trailer bunks and rollers

I have a 14' aluminum Valco on an old Highlander trailer. The trailer is a bit ragged and I'd like to replace the bunks. My question is the trailer has 3 rubber rollers and 2 bunks, when the boat is secured to the trailer should it rest on the rollers and the bunks used to keep it on the...

    moving gastank to the bow?

I used a tiller extension once, but we use the boat in the Sea of Cortez and I just don't trust that the extension would stay on in any kind of chop. The idea of that falling off at hi speed is a bit scary. The gas tank only holds about 3-5 gallons so I don't think there would be a lot of...

    moving gastank to the bow?

Picked up a 14' Valco with a 15" transom. Added a minijacker for my long shaft electric start 15hp Suzuki. Now it sits way too low in the stern. I pretty sure I can relocate the battery to the bow, but could I also move the gastank forward? The guy I bought it from ran a 8hp Johnson 2 stroke...

    home built Jack Plate..

I'm just going from a short shaft 9.9 Johnson 2 stroke to a long shaft 15hp 4 stroke Suzuki. The basic simplicity of the design and the size of the engine I'm using makes me think its workable. I do mostly inshore fishing on the Sea of Cortez and one thought I have with this conversion is say...

    home built Jack Plate..

I'm thinking about doing something similar. Have you had it out much and if so how is it holding up?

    possibly a stupid question.

I'm picking up a Valco 14' to replace a Gregor. The Valco requires a short shaft outboard. Everything I've seen to fit my long shaft on the Valco not only has added height but also moves the motor further back. Why?

    carpet in saltwater

My question is, how does carpeting work on a boat used in saltwater? I can imagine after a while it might get a bit foul smelling. Is painting a better option? Maybe truck bed roll on. Any suggestions welcome.
