Brass Spoon Bass and my new Pond X

Nice one! Have you ever tried a Johnson Silver Minnow? They are pretty good for snaggy areas.

Species ID? And a couple of others...

Definitely a gizzard. Sometimes you can find them double that size in there. The best bait there is for big blue cats.

I'm not from Florida, but it might be this?

    hydrofoil for more speed?

I have a 14 foot v-hull with a 25hp johnson I bought this summer. The previous owner had one of those installed. I actually took it off yesterday as an experiment. I gained 2 mph top speed (from 25 to 27). It did get on plane easier when it was installed. I say easier, but not necessarily...

    10/23/10 Potomac river

I'd say they definitely fight harder than channels. I've never caught a flathead over about 15 lbs but at that size I'd say pound for pound flatheads fight just a little harder. I'll have to work on getting a 50 lb flathead to know for sure :LOL2: . I think flatheads probably run faster but...

    10/23/10 Potomac river

I just use cheap 7' bass pro heavy action rods with Penn 209's, spooled with 65 lb braid. I usually use a slip sinker rig with either a 6 or 8 oz egg weight, 60 lb mono leader and 8/0 Gamakatsu octopus circle hooks. I only started targeting blues last winter, but after some tweaking thats the...

    10/23/10 Potomac river

The area we got into those was straight out from the boat ramp in the center of the channel, right in the middle of a field of crab pots. I always wonder how a state record in there would work since I fish with a VA license. I think I heard MD is going to stop recoginzing blues as a game fish...

    DC Fishing Report from 10/27

    10/23/10 Potomac river

It's been nice to see several reports from my area on here, so I figure it's time I start contributing too. Met my buddy at Leesylvania state park to do some catfishing about 3 pm. Soaked the gill net for about 15 minutes and it had 3 nice gizzard shad, about 8 channel cats, and 2 largemouth...

    Aluminum vs other metals

I use stainless steel. Aluminum screws are hard to find and I believe I have heard they are not as strong.

Twas a Crappie Striped Perch Eye day

How do you tell a hybrid apart from a white bass when they are that size? I would have identified that as a white bass.

64 Sportwin Evinrude 9.5 hp - No Cowel

Did you end up finding one? If you haven't, I just bought one for my '73 9.5 from a guy I found on craigslist. He made it sound like he has a pile of them. He is in North Carolina but will ship anywhere. I can PM you his contact info if you want.

    wire clips...help!

I used a fish tape to get the wires through the frame on my old trailer. I am a phone technician so I already had one, but if you don't I find they're a pretty handy thing to have around the house for random jobs such as this.

    Splicing 6-gauge wire

You could use a split bolt connector. You can find them at Lowe's, or anywhere that has electrical supplies.

    Day of frustration

Topwater frogs are probably my favorite bait to fish. In my opinion you are definently best off with braid fishing a frog. You are going to need it to horse that big one out of the vegetation (I'm assuming you aren't using these in open water). What works best for me is to resist the urge to set...

    HTS-2000 Brazing Rods

Heres a video of them in a action. What they do with the soda can makes me think they could work well on a thin aluminum boat. N-cv3R4fWZc
